JOB SUMMARY
The HR Generalist will assist in the day-to-day management and administrative tasks of talent acquisition, training and development, performance and talent management, safety and employee relations.
FUNCTION/DUTIES

  • Performs tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including talent acquisition, onboarding, performance and talent management, training and development, safety, and employee relations.
  • Assess employee training and development needs and assist managers with developmental plans for employees; organize training; write and manage grant process; track and document training and continuing education
  • Working with HR Director, recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborate with managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to HR Director or managers.
  • Attend and participate in employee investigations, disciplinary matters/meetings, and terminations.
  • Assist with and investigates collective bargaining issues such as working conditions, disciplinary actions, and grievances/appeals. Provide guidance and recommendations for problem resolution to managers.
  • Recommends and implements employee morale and recognition programs.
  • Manage workers compensation claims, unemployment claims and represent company at hearings.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Provides backup support for Payroll and Benefits Manager
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

WORK SCHEDULE
Full-time: 40 hours per week; travel = 20% to company locations
RECOMMENDED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Human Resources (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years in talent acquisition, safety initiatives, training and development, collective bargaining
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and labor relations/practices and legal requirements
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office suite, ADP HRIS Software
