Job Summary: The HR Generalist will support the overall operations of the Human Resources department with the administration of various HR plans, policies, and procedures. Specifically, this role will act as the primary recruiting expert and will also include general HR duties, such as assisting with performance management, employee relations, staff development, and a wide range of HR generalist duties as needed.

The HR Generalist will be responsible for the full life cycle recruiting (end to end recruitment) of HonorBridge staff by developing recruiting plans, tools, and innovative sourcing strategies to leverage diverse high caliber candidates. The HR Generalist will also pre-screen candidates to assess their qualifications through a combination of behavioral and competency-based interviewing, as well as monitor requisition status to ensure an efficient recruitment process. The HR Generalist will also assist in other areas of HR responsibilities and duties.

Recruiting & Onboarding (60% – 80%)

  • Assist Director, Human Resources in implementing recruiting strategy.
  • Review job details and prepare postings; determine recruitment strategy including pre-screening questions, and where advertising would occur to provide diverse applicant pool.
  • Collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Source and recruit candidates by using databases, social media, networking, and online tools; build applicant sources by researching and contacting community services, colleges, employment agencies, recruiters, media and career sites.
  • Provide initial screening of applicant pools, as well as phone screens or interviews when applicable.
  • Conduct interviews using various reliable recruiting and selection tools.
  • Act as a point of contact and build influential candidate relationships during the selection process.
  • Develop pipeline of talent, specifically for frequently filled positions as well as hard to fill locations.
  • Provide feedback to hiring managers regarding recruitment and selection processes as well as interviewing.
  • Facilitate the selection of candidates in alignment with HonorBridge guidelines and internal processes
  • Draft competitive salary offers that are equitable within the department, using compensation data.
  • Initiate screenings (background, drug, employment, etc.) based on internal and/or client hiring requirements and conduct employee eligibility verifications (E-Verify and I-9).
  • Manage the HonorBridge Position Management process to ensure that only approved and/or budgeted positions are opened; track, reconcile, and report on open and unopened positions.

HR Generalist Responsibilities (20% - 30%)

  • Support the Director, Human Resources and the HR Business Partner with HonorBridge employee relations, including general HR support to colleagues, as well as policy/process clarification.
  • Participate in project-based HR initiatives.
  • Conduct employee onboarding and help organize training & development initiatives when needed.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves and compensation and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics, like time to hire and colleague turnover rates
  • Maintain the organization structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, maintain and update HR policies and standard operating procedures, as needed.
  • Assist in managing the organization’s performance management program, to include communications, training, and monitoring.
  • Conduct and analyze exit interviews and make actionable recommendations based on data.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, and work assessments including safety training, anti-harassment training, etc.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Perform other related duties and assist in projects as assigned by the Director, Human Resources.

Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing, occasional lifting (up to twenty pounds), finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and visual acuity

Work Environment: normal office environment, occasional automobile travel within local area and to other HonorBridge offices in North Carolina.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required

Experience: 3+ years’ experience working as an HR Professional required. 2+ years’ experience conducting full life-cycle recruiting required.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: PHR, SPHR, or HRCI certifications preferred but not required.

  • Knowledge and ability to use internal communications and design online platforms, such as Canva, BananaTag, or similar.Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
