Role: The HR Business Partner works with leaders and employees to align business needs and support organizational priorities through HR standards. Please note this is a Hybrid Remote Position. This position will be required to be in the office 2-3 days per week.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Acts as single point of contact for the employees and leaders for Human Resources, including problem solving, performance management, education, HR compliance, procedures, FMLA, leaves of absence and talent strategies. Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Manages complex and difficult HR projects cross-functionally.
  • Builds and maintains deep knowledge of internal business partners, key employees, and business processes.
  • Actively identifies talent and HR gaps, proposes, and implements changes necessary to mitigate risks and problems. Analyzes trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs and policies.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Partners with leaders to create optimal employee engagement and workplace environment of sustainability.
  • Works under the direction of the VP Human Resources to support and advise toward ORNL FCU standards and expectations. Proactively communicates areas and issues of concern to VP Human Resources in a timely manner.
  • Works with leaders to address a spectrum of HR-related business needs including staffing, succession planning, performance, compliance, communication, and other issues as they arise.
  • Ensures leaders and employees are appropriately educated on HR policies, procedures, practices, legal issues and compliance mandates are observing such.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Experience: five or more years of broad experience and expertise in all areas of HR business functions including staffing, legal/compliance, compensation, benefits, performance management, issue mitigation/resolution, diversity and talent strategies.
Education: Bachelors degree in business, human resources, or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education, required. SHRM or HRCI certifications preferred.

  • Effective communication skills in all forms including verbal, presentation, facilitation and written with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Proven effectiveness in an HR role with strengths in team oriented results and leadership skills.
  • Must have strong project, change management and critical thinking skills.
  • Analytical and problem solving, as well as time management and performance development knowledge needed.
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel and Google Workspace.
