Community Based Services is a non-profit organization providing supports to people in the Hudson Valley region since 1981.

The role of the House Supervisor is to oversee the delivery and completion of services for individuals living in the group home. The House Supervisor directly oversees the work of Direct Support professionals, lending supervision, assisting with direct care, guidance and mentoring while ensuring that the individualized services are delivered in accordance with the person-centered Habilitation Plan.

House Supervisor Responsibilities

A. Ensure a hygienic, safe, and organized home environment for the individuals in the residence.

B. Assist with direct care of the individuals. This includes but not limited to cooking, bathing, toileting, positioning, assist with lifting, administering medication, attend medical appointments and operating mechanical lifts.

C. Provide leadership, supervision, and training to in-house direct support and other professional staff. Ability to lead and motivate employees while maintaining positive morale to ensure optimum care of the individuals.

D. Sufficient flexibility in regard to assignments and schedule and be available to the residence for consultation and support during “non-business” hours. 40 hours per week (minimum of 16 hours per month on weekend) Scheduled hours during the week are flexible; ensure all shifts are observed.

E. Act as a member of the person centered planning process and assist in the development, monitoring, and evaluation of programs and services. Use person centered approach to assist with the development and/or review of the Residential Habilitation Plans; oversee the delivery of the plan and all billing components, including monthly notes, within the Agency’s required timeframes.

F. Train staff on data collection methods and service delivery documentation requirements. Routinely monitor all service documentation for accuracy. This includes ensuring that documentation meets applicable billing compliance standards and is submitted in a timely fashion in accordance to agency policies and procedures, including Group Day Habilitation and Community Habilitation-R, as needed.

G. Provide support to the Residence Nurse in all matters that pertain to administrative duties. Must liaise with the Director of Nursing as needed on matters relating to clinical duties.

H. Maintain accurate accounts of household spending as well as accounting ledgers for all individual personal funds

I. Follow incident reporting policies and procedures and ensure related training of staff on an on-going basis.

J. Travel to all 10 group homes within Westchester County to provide supervision and support. The houses are located in Yorktown Heights, Ossining, White Plains, Goldens Bridge, Briarcliff Manor, Buchanan, Shrub Oak, Cortlandt Manor and Pound Ridge.

K. Have a working knowledge of, and be able to promote, the Direct Service Professional Core Competencies and Code of Ethics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

At least two years of experience working with the developmentally disabled. Supervisory experience, preferably previous supervisor/manager in residential setting. Valid driver's license for at least 1 year. Ability to drive agency-owned vehicles.
