Offering a compelling blend of sweeping narrative and poignant personal detail, The National WWII Museum features immersive exhibits, multimedia experiences, and an expansive collection of artifacts and first-person oral histories, taking visitors inside the story of the war that changed the world.

Location: We are seeking a Host/Hostess for the American Sector Restaurant at the National WWII Museum.

We have FREE Parking, close to public transportation and Street Car. We offer great hours with our restaurant being open from 11am-6:30pm everyday as well as evening dinner shows in the Stage Door Canteen.

We are closed all major holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Mardi Gras Day!

Principal Function:

The Hosts/Hostess will serve an important role in establishing a pleasant dining experience for guests of Sodexo Live!’s free standing or in-venue restaurants. They will support and work as a partner to restaurant servers, by constantly monitoring, guiding and controlling the flow of guests into the dining room, based on timing and level business, so that they are seated in a manner that complements each server’s ability to properly attend to them.

The Host/Hostess will schedule reservations, assign guests to tables suitable for the size of each group, escort them to their seats and provide them with menus. The Host/Hostess will inspect dining and serving areas to ensure proper setup and cleanliness and may assist customers in answering questions and inquiries and in planning special events such as parties and banquets. They may further assist by handling monetary transactions, and are responsible for maintaining Sodexo Live!’s standards for guest service, cleanliness and sanitation at all times.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the ‘face’ of the restaurant and first point of contact for arriving guests to make a positive initial impression.
  • Execute proper dining room management to support servers in delivering an efficient and timely dining experience for every guest.
  • Maintain a neat, clean and sanitary guest environment to that provides the best impression to the guest.
  • Contribute to goal of 100% customer satisfaction through personal commitment to teamwork and customer service.

Qualifications/Skills Required:

  • 18 years old or older.
  • Sufficient exposure to a food service environment.
  • Ability to understand written and oral direction and to communicate same with others.
  • Ability to promote and participate in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently and in a high stress, fast paced environment.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used by guests who typically visit the work location.

Other requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly-quartered environment.

Hours are often extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
