RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct Patient Care:
o Provide direct care/companionship to patient, reporting any changes to hospice staff.
o Provide preparation of meals or assist with household chores.
o Provide a clean, safe and comfortable patient environment.
o Promote positive, supportive, respectful communication and respite to patient/family.
o Provide an environment which promotes respect for patient, privacy and property.
Administrative Support:
o Provide clerical support to office staff.
o Participate in special projects/fund raisers.
Professional Volunteer:
o Provide services according to the rules and standard of practice of their respective disciplines.
- Participates in the development and presentation of educational programs as appropriate.
- Fulfills additional performance responsibilities as assigned and as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High School Diploma, preferred.
- Must be a responsible, detail-oriented individual.
Experience:
- No experience is required.
Language skills:
- Ability to read and write English.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
Licenses:
- Valid State of Texas Driver’s License with good driving record.
Physical Requirements:
- Use hands to grip or feel.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to bend, stoop and kneel.
- Frequently required to stand on one’s feet for a long period of time.
- Ability to deal effectively with stress.
Working Conditions:
- Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset clients, family members, staff, visitors, etc. under all conditions/circumstances.
- Ability to travel locally with some exposure to unpleasant weather.
- Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs, and to make quick decisions and resource acquisition
- May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.
