Summary:

A Healthcare Commercial Team Leader at Columbia Bank is responsible for bringing in new healthcare business relationships, growing a team and portfolio, and analyzing loans of varying complexity and dollar size. This position works directly with teams of lenders and commercial credit analysts to address new loan renewals, modifications and occasionally approve new loans; recommends loans for approval within established guidelines and lending policies; and maintains portfolio of existing customer relationships and supports a team of commercial lending officers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Grow and manage a team of Healthcare Relationship Managers with a goal of developing the team portfolio with new business while insuring positive customer relationships.
  • Interviews loan applicants. Analyzes financial and related data for credit worthiness and merits of loan requests. Establishes terms and recommends approval to senior management. Informs customers of Bank decisions. Maintain a complete and thorough understanding of Loan Policy, including all loan guidelines and exceptions. Review, understand and communicate issues within loan files to the Loan Officers for accuracy and correction of errors.
  • Responsible for coordinating the underwriting of credits, including risk rating assessment, covenant compliance testing, financial statement and collateral analysis. Cross sells Bank products and services.
  • Interacts with customers to maintain and enhance business relationships. Ensures that annual file reviews are completed in a timely manner. Deals directly with existing customers regarding line of credit renewals as well as modifications of existing loans. Provide close contact with clients to establish, deepen, and retain relationships; reach corporate objectives.
  • Monitors delinquencies and evaluates problem loans. Negotiates with customers and offers restructure recommendations for problem loans or recommends legal collection action. Estimates final financial impact to the Bank.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of local and national economic, financial, political and legislative trends. Determines the possible impact on commercial lending activities.
  • Assists in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports and the forecasting of loan balances.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business related field. Master’s degree in finance, business or economics preferred;
  • Minimum of 10 years commercial lending experience with a proven successful sales record;
  • Minimum of 5 years experience managing a business banking market for a progressive financial services company in the Healthcare segment;
  • Experience in executing programs which have successfully improved the cross selling of all products and services throughout a major financial services company;
  • Experience in attracting, managing, developing and retaining a highly competent and committed group of Healthcare Commercial Lenders;
  • Reputation for developing, building and maintaining a high level customer service organization and the ability to guide commercial lenders with high net worth clients and centers of influence;
  • Thorough understanding of the Healthcare trends, competition, communities and businesses in the North, NJ and New York markets;
  • Thorough understanding of Healthcare market risks, macro/micro economic issues as they apply to banking, and lending policies and procedures;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Frequent travel throughout the NJ and NY;
  • High-energy, result-oriented and works well in a team environment;
  • History of participation and active roles in Healthcare industry events, and community involvement through volunteerism and/or representation with charitable organizations.
