Health Research Data Collection & Processing Assistant

Medical Assistant, LPN, EMT or CNA

The 10,000 Families Study is hiring student and temp/casual Medical Assistant, LPN, EMT or CNAs to staff health visits in the Twin Cities and Greater Minnesota. This is the ideal position for someone looking to explore and develop research skills and support nationally recognized efforts to improve family health in Minnesota. The 10,000 Families Study (10KFS) is led by multidisciplinary faculty at the University of Minnesota in the Schools of Medicine and Public Health in partnership with the Masonic Cancer Center. 10KFS is a cohort study that looks at lifestyle, genetic, and environmental influences on health and developing disease.

10KFS hosts family health visits where physical measurements and biospecimens are collected from participants of all ages. The primary site for health visits is at the Advanced Research & Diagnostic Lab (ARDL) on the edge of the Minneapolis West Bank Campus. The study soon will launch family health visits at off-campus locations in the metro area and greater MN. Although health visits may be held during the week, visits are held primarily on Fridays and Saturdays from 8:30 to 4:00 pm. Days and times may vary based on the needs of participants and the study team.

Responsibilities

• Participate and successfully complete study-specific training
• Obtain blood, urine, hair, nail and saliva samples
• Process blood samples for transport to the central lab
• Data entry on the CRF (study form)
• Measure and record vital signs (ht/wt, BP/pulse, hip-to waist- ratio)
• Clean exam rooms between participants

Compensation: Hourly rate is commensurate with experience
