Summary: Under the supervision of Plant Manager and guidance of the Best Home Furnishings Health, Safety & Environmental (HES) Manager, the HES Coordinator is responsible for implementing and monitoring plant health, safety and environmental operations and assigned tasks. The HES Coordinator is the primary contact for employees and supervisors concerning safety-related matters and is responsible for the application of the Health, Safety & Environmental Management System.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following:

· Works with Supervisors, Employees and Division Managers to maintain the levels of compliance with the Health, Safety and Environmental Management System of Jasper Dimension.

· Conducts monthly Safety Meetings. Provides information for Supervisors to use in conjunction with developing shop floor safe work practices. Provides training materials for monthly departmental meetings.

· Develops and maintains written Safety operating instructions for all plant positions; to include position specific Safety setup measures, Lock-out/Tagout procedures and Safety required materials.

· Performs required initial training and refreshers with Supervisors as well as employees on:

§ Plant Stretch and Flex program

§ Powered Industrial Trucks (classroom training / shop floor driver training / audits drivers on shop floor)

§ Lockout/Tagout (classroom training /shop floor training and/or observes supervisor in practical training)

§ Hearing Conservation Program (Hearing testing/Noise level testing)

· Conducts new hire safety orientation. This includes workstation evaluations and follow up during the first 90 days of employment. Documents a checklist to show follow-up comments and concerns.

· Maintains files and documentation related to Safety inspections and operations.

· Coordinates Worker’s Compensation active with the Best Home Furnishings Worker’s Compensation Specialist.

· Conducts regular fire drills, fire extinguisher training, tone tests and weather emergency drills. Inspects fire extinguishers and emergency lights on a monthly basis.

· Performs environmental monitoring and recordkeeping for Air Permits and maintains Storm water documentation and sampling at facility.

· Coordinates all recycling activities.

· Maintains semi-annual Electrical Glove testing schedule.

· Works with the Plant Manager, HES Manager and Plant Supervision toward VPP compliance to maintain the highest expectations of OSHA.

Job Requirements:

· Proven work experience in a Safety related field (3 + years preferred); Safety experience in a manufacturing setting a strong plus.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude.

· General knowledge of MS Office and PC proficiency

· Compensation commensurate with experience
