Summary

The HSSU Men Soccer Coach is responsible for all aspects of developing and organizing the men’s soccer programs. Position also requires extensive recruiting, coordination of practices, skill development, and instructing student athletes in techniques for peak performance. The position also requires NAIA eligibility knowledge and performs other related duties as assigned by the Head Coach & or appropriate administrator. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.


Principal Duties/Responsibilities

  • Instructs student athletes in techniques of the sport, rules, regulations, and equipment.
  • Lead the coordination of practices, scheduling, team travel, strength and conditioning program for student athletes.
  • Coaches effectively in practices and competitions.
  • Provides supervision of student athletes.
  • Assist with the process for determine academic eligibility of prospect soccer student athletes.
  • Recommend improvements and modifications.
  • Promote philosophy of the athletic department and HSSU University.

Game Day Duties: equipment and uniform management as well as assist with transportation, hotel accommodations, and meal planning.

  • Under the direction of the head coach, the assistant will assist in providing soccer specific instruction, assist in the conduct of practice sessions, perform game related duties, while mentoring the student athletes.
  • Lead recruiting efforts through on-campus visits and off-campus evaluation.
  • Lead team fundraising initiatives.
  • Demonstrate and lead by example and high integrity at all times when it comes to the NAIA five core values integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
  • Represent the University in a positive manner at all times.
  • Abide by all AMC and NAIA rules and regulations.


Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree; with at least 2 to 3 years’ collegiate experience as soccer coach and/or soccer student athlete

Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills in soccer

Must possess knowledge of the NAIA rules, and regulations

Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with University administrators and student-athletes.
