The Buffalo Society of Natural Sciences (Museum of Science and Tifft Nature Preserve) is looking for a full-time Head of Exhibits who will work with the Director of Exhibits, Facilities, and Capital Projects, the Exhibits Staff, volunteers, and contractors to produce new exhibits and maintain existing exhibits.

Specific duties include:

• Fabricating, installing, maintaining, dismantling, and loading-in/out exhibits.
• Assisting with design, production, and installation of graphics.
• Coordinating daily with Exhibits staff, Floor Staff, B&G staff, and Security personnel to ensure exhibits are clean, working properly, and supplied.
• Supervising exhibit technician(s), contractors, temporary staff, interns, and volunteers.
• Acting as project manager for some museum programs.
• Managing Exhibits Department work areas, materials, supplies, and equipment.
• Managing accurate Exhibits Department databases; creating new schedules/task lists and inventories as necessary.

Education, Experience, Skills, and Qualities Required:

• Experience in a construction-related field (carpentry, painting, electrical), with a working knowledge of power tools.
• Design and/or Project Management experience preferred.
• Experience in graphic design, production, printing and mounting a plus.
• Ability to lead, encourage cooperation and respect, and strategically prioritize and organize work of self and others.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
• Experience in Adobe products, AutoCAD or similar, video editing/production desired.
• Must have strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work safely and efficiently in high-stress situations.
• Must have a valid driver’s license. Experience driving medium-sized trucks desired.
• Must be able to lift and move exhibit related elements.

The Head of Exhibits will occasionally be required to work at events or respond to situations on evenings, weekends or holidays.

The successful candidate will be paid in the range of $55-56,000/year, and will receive excellent benefits including paid time off, health insurance, 401K with company match, paid holidays and more.
