Job Overview/Purpose:

The purpose of the Chapter Lead/Head of Agri is to TCF Relationship Managers in marketing, relationship management and business development among new and existing domestic and international companies involved in the trading of physical commodities globally in the Agri sectors. The team will assist clients’ efforts to build and maintain their business within the solvency, credit and risk profile established by the Bank. The Head of Agri will ensure that the global sector strategy is rolled out with our TCF Agri clients. He/she will sell and distribute Investment Banking, Markets products and other Rabobank products to defined markets. The Head of Agri will also act as senior member in a squad (squad lead role is rotational with other senior members) with direct client ownership.

Rabobank's North American Trade and Commodity Finance Group is headquartered in New York and manages a variety of Food & Agribusiness, Energy and Metals & Minerals account relationships which are located across North America. The Group provides structured trade finance products and ownership based products to clients of both TCF and the Corporate Bank.

MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES AS CHAPTER LEAD/HEAD OF AGRI

  • Developing Strategies and Supporting Infrastructure
  • Setting chapter goals in line with the global sector strategy
  • Ensure the achievement and effective contribution of the chapter’s targeted revenue and profitability budget.
  • Management of office/department’s performance, strategic planning and goal setting.

Optimizing Financial Resourcing

  • Implementing policies and procedure to manage operational, financial, reputational and credit risk.
  • Ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensuring business is conducted with clients with an adequate risk profile.
  • Ensure a clean and healthy asset portfolio in the chapter through careful screening, selection, evaluation and monitoring.
  • Managing credit quality of the TCF NA Agri Portfolio, avoid substandard files, minimize provisions and losses
  • Making budget (Revenues, Assets, Economic Capital, RAROC)

Delivering Performance Through People

  • Planning resource requirements for the chapter.
  • Creating an appropriate culture/working environment within the team.
  • Implementing the performance management process for the chapter.
  • Training and development of staff
  • Maintaining a fruitful dialogue with key personnel/stake holders/other banks and institutions.
  • Setting standards for Risk Management and protect a high quality of credit applications

MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES AS SENIOR SQUAD MEMBER

  • Maintaining and developing client relationships
  • Developing new products and/or new markets
  • Execute on chapter goals in line with the global sector strategy
  • Responsible for income, impairment levels and capital usage at client level and jointly responsible at squad level
  • Developing & Maintaining Long-Term Customer Relationships
  • Working with own and other business areas to understand, predict and meet customers’ needs and add value both with direct clients in the squad as well as in the wider chapter.
  • Working with colleagues to produce innovative solutions and develop product offering for targeted customer segments.
  • Monitoring competitor activity in own and related areas.
  • Identifying new markets for products.
  • Creating, Sharing & Using Knowledge
  • Developing understanding of the Bank’s products/services.
  • Keeping up-to-date with market/industry/functional knowledge and economic/social/regulatory/technical developments.
  • Sharing critical business/client/management information.
  • Liaising/networking internally and externally.
  • Working with colleagues to develop knowledge of customer markets and product needs.
  • Be responsible as the first line of defence in the Bank against risk by ensuring the following in line with the Bank’s risk appetite:
  • Potential customers are selected on the basis of an acceptable risk profile in line with the Bank’s F&A Client Selection Criteria
  • Monitoring/controlling the risks related to the wholesale credit portfolio in general
  • Keeping the risks of business transactions within acceptable limits

Key Relationships:

  • Ongoing customer/prospect contact
  • Other TCF Agribusiness teams (Utrecht, Asia and Latin America).
  • Credit Departments (NY Office/Utrecht) and credit committee members
  • Legal and Compliance Department (NY Office)
  • TCF, Professional Products and/or Management when required

Qualifications/Job Skills and Knowledge:

Essential:

  • Formal credit training program
  • At least 10 years of lending experience, including selling traditional lending products as well as cross selling more sophisticated structured trade and commodity finance and corporate finance products.
  • Ability to work/manage in matrix environment.
  • Strong managerial and communication skills (written and verbal); marketing skills , credit skills and negotiation skills
  • Leadership/management of client financing businesses
  • Bachelors Degree in related studies or equivalent work experience.

Salary Expectations

Target Hiring Range:
$270,000 - $400,000

This position is subject to the terms of Rabobank’s compensation plans and policies. It is anticipated that the position will pay within the target hiring range. The range is reflective of the desired primary physical work location and may be adjusted outside of the projected range based on geographical differentiation if the actual work location of the hired candidate differs from the desired primary location, or for other lawful reasons. Further, the position includes all other benefits provided to Rabobank employees, including healthcare benefits, 401k matching, vacation, sick leave, parental leave, possible discretionary bonuses and all other benefits that are all governed by and subject to ERISA plan documents and eligibility.
