Serving over 20,000 active youth, adult, and family members, the West Branch of the Treasure Valley Family YMCA helps members lead a healthier, happier life. Facility amenities and features include six fitness studios, three racquetball courts, full-court basketball gym, youth activity center, climbing wall, 50-meter swimming pool, and training pool.


The Head Diving Coach is responsible for administering the operation of the Dive Team, overseeing the safe management of the program, it’s participants and the facilities and to teach dive skills and water safety to individual participants at a variety of levels.


Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Aquatics Assistant Director and Director to ensure dive program operations are consistent with approved Leading Practices.
  • Supervise Dive Team staff, including hiring, onboarding, role-modeling, and coaching, scheduling and on-going development.
  • Set overall team performance goals and work with coaching staff, parents, and participants to implement plan to accomplish set goals.
  • Respond to member and community inquires and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and committees as assigned.
  • Maintain collaborative relationship with community organization and other swimming agencies and programs.
  • Build specific workouts for individuals and team based on initial skills assessment and ongoing evaluation.
  • Attend practices and meets as assigned and provided on-site coaching.
  • Actively listen to participants, make suggestions and follow up to help ensure participants’ skill enhancement goals are met.
  • Ensure program equipment is ready for use and deemed safe.
  • Supervise staff, including hiring, onboarding, role-modeling, and coaching, scheduling and on-going development.

Qualifications:

  • Three years diving coaching experience.
  • Must be able to differentiate between colors (red, yellow, blue and green).
  • Excellent human relations skills and an ability to maintain position communication with staff and members.
  • Ability to address and make solid decision in emergency situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including telephone etiquette and computer use.
  • Prior experience of successful supervisor of staff and volunteer preferred.

Schedule:

This is a part time position averaging 15 hours weekly. Schedule is multiple evenings each week, 4:30pm-8:00pm, with occasional weekend and travel for competition.
