HEAD COACHES POOL

(Baseball, Softball, Women's Basketball, Men's Basketball, Volleyball, Men's/Women's Cross Country, Men's Soccer and Women's Soccer)


Location: Lynnwood Washington


DESCRIPTION:
The head coach will be responsible for all aspects of the sports program, including planning and directing recruitment, conditioning, training, and performance of student-athletes, along with fiscal management, for Edmonds College's Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) sports program. This position reports to the athletic director. The duties of this position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of the NWAC and Edmonds College.


Must be able to work and interact effectively with other coaches, staff, student-athletes, the general student body, administrators and others of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:

Recruit, retain, coach, and provide leadership to a full roster of student-athletes within the rules and regulations of Edmonds College and the NWAC; demonstrate effective competency in teaching individual and team strategies to players, and organize and plan day-to-day activities, including techniques; assist students in achieving their educational goals, which includes organizing and implementing team study tables, implementing grade tracking systems, and connecting them to remedial support as needed; communicate eligibility guidelines and ensure student-athletes meet those guidelines; maintain a competitive and successful program; hire, supervise, and direct assistant coaches; meet deadlines set forth by the NWAC; work with the athletic administration to ensure all athletes have completed physical exams, athletic paperwork, tracer reports, disclaimers, and any additional required paperwork; comply with NWAC and NCAA rules and regulations and support NWAC and Edmonds College philosophy and mission; transport student-athletes to team events and to away contests; assist in reconciling travel requests; help with necessary arrangements for home contests; develop fundraising strategies to help raise essential funds to support the program; organize community camps for youth in the area; responsible for developing practice and game schedules; facilitate timely processing of appropriate institutional and conference paperwork; inventory and maintenance of all sports equipment and uniforms; must follow proper purchasing procedures as required by the State of Washington and described by the college business office; understand student code of conduct, athletics code of conduct and communicate expectations to student-athletes; be committed to student success; responsible for fostering an environment that provides a quality student-athlete experience; serve as role model in leading team members in developing and displaying appropriate attitudes, sportsmanship and behavior expected of athletic teams representing Edmonds College; represent the college in a positive fashion at all times; other duties as assigned; responsible for the sports program as a whole.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
:

  • Collegiate experience;
  • Coaching experience at the high school or college level (college preferred);
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred) from an accredited institution;
  • Ability to teach the sport of interest;
  • Strong organizational, management and communication skills with attention to detail;
  • Experience and proficiency in using google drive, google docs, and google sheets;
  • Knowledge of NWAC rules and regulations, and NCAA rules;
  • Knowledge of college policies and procedures, marketing, social media, promotion, and athletic facility upkeep;
  • Must be self-motivated and goal-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously;
  • Experience in the recruitment process (and strategies) of prospective collegiate student-athletes;
  • Athletic fundraising experience;


PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is typically performed in the gymnasium, field, or in the weight room. Duties require standing/walking for long periods of time, the ability to demonstrate techniques associated with the sport, and lifting materials in excess of 25 pounds. The ability to communicate clearly is essential. Personal transportation is needed to travel to meetings and for scouting student-athletes. This position also requires driving vans to games.


WORK SCHEDULE:

40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.


COMPENSATION
:

Coaching stipend is $5,500 with a $2,000 recruiting/retention bonus if objectives are met. There are stipend increases for years of service.


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

You must document your citizenship or employment authorization within three days of hire.

Criminal background check. Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.

  • You must currently be CPR/First Aid certified, or be able to obtain certification immediately
  • Pass online NWAC coaching tests and certifications
