Summary: Primary responsibilities include preparation of proposals and grant applications, and performance of responsible professional work in researching, identifying, developing and responding to public and private grant opportunities in the areas of Primary Care, Health, Social Services, Behavioral Health, Substance Abuse and Health Education among other areas. Collaborates with federal, state and local agencies and departments to identify fundable projects fitting organizational strategies, conducts research, and writes proposals to secure privately and publicly funded grants for agencies, general operations and capital projects. This position is part of a team responsible for the full range of fund development activities for the organization. Specifically, staff is responsible for writing proposals for both unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects and for submitting timely and accurate reports for all existing grant funded projects. Additionally, staff is also responsible for coordinating and implementing the organization’s involvement in capital campaign efforts.



Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for writing proposals for projects and for submitting timely and accurate reports for all existing grant funded projects.
  • Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources.
  • Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for corporate and foundation grants.
  • Work with finance to gather information necessary to report to corporate/foundation funders on current grant programs.
  • Comply with all grant reporting as required by all sources.
  • Provide stewardship to current funders, including work with managers to provide regular written updates and reports.
  • Understanding of institutional history and programs.
  • Maintain current records in database and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting
  • Track statistics relevant to development and provide department with written materials necessary
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested
  • Create and maintain required reporting to funding sources on the status of projects and the appropriation and use of funds.
  • Recommend policies and procedures to support the grant development program.
  • Create grant development resources for the organization and educate staff about grants.
  • Advise supervisor of opportunities for developing new grant development initiatives and innovations.



Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing or a related field. Minimum of five years of experience in writing successful grant proposals. Previous supervisory experience helpful. Master Degree Preferred.
