The Girls on the Run® Program Manager must possess a passion for and commitment to improving the lives and opportunities of girls in third through eighth grades. Girls on the Run provides a safe and interactive way to learn about healthy living including introductions and education on important topics like goal-setting, cooperation, healthy decision-making, and self-respect. The innovative curriculum gives girls an opportunity to listen and open up while encouraging them to commit to a healthy lifestyle and harness their inner strengths. Girls on the Run Western North Carolina is a 501(c)(3) organization and currently serves 14 counties in Western North Carolina.

Position Profile
The Program Manager is a part-time, non-exempt position and reports to the Executive Director. The Program Manger is responsible for managing all Girls on the Run programs and coach volunteers. Key responsibilities within these areas include but are not limited to:

Program Outreach and Site Management

  • Implement the Girls on the Run strategic plan and collaborate with the team (fellow GOTR WNC staff, volunteers, board, community partners and GOTR HQ) to achieve program goals at the direction of the Executive Director
  • Develop marketing strategies and material to grow GOTR WNC’s network
  • Work with community leaders, schools and other groups to maximize the success of programming
  • Support needs of new and existing sites, including conducting site visits to ensure quality program implementation
  • Enforce site policies and procedures, implementing improvements as needed

Coach Management and Training

  • Develop effective coach recruitment and retention strategies that result in qualified volunteers that mirror the demographics of our community and girls served
  • Recruit and train coaches to ensure program fidelity and quality
  • Manage all aspects of coach training, including logistics and facilitation
  • Enforce coaching policies and procedures, implementing improvements as needed
  • Support coach volunteers and design appreciation initiatives

Program Management

  • Manage administrative pieces of program implementation including program inventory, registration information, program evaluations and applications in Girls on the Run software (Pinwheel)
  • Develop and track program budget with Executive Director
  • Manage participant financial assistance policies and procedures
  • Communicate with sites, coaches and families

Organizational Support

  • Communicate program impact, upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and more using relevant and branded content via GOTR WNC’s social media channels
  • Manage the fall and spring end-of-season 5K events in partnership with the Executive Director
  • Lead the 5K committee
  • Attend community events on behalf of the organization to raise awareness of the organization or in support of a community partnership

This position is part-time (20 - 25 hours per week), offering $20/hour. Some evening and weekend availability is needed to support coach, volunteer and fundraising events. This position is remote with some in-person tasks required; however, candidates must reside in Western North Carolina. Ideal position start date is January 2, 2023.
