Summary Description

Oversee and manage the operation of the dealership. Responsible for maximizing return on investment, profit and loss, daily operation, planning, development, and implementation of marketing plans for both short-term and longterm growth. Has direct responsibility for managing and controlling company assets, as well as managing and developing employees for future growth.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and coordination for all areas of dealership operation.
  • Establish and communicate operating policies and procedures for dealership.
  • Balance the demands of employees, suppliers, customers, owners, and community.
  • Ensure departments maintain budgeted revenue and expense objectives.
  • Maintain records, controls and requests reports from subordinates to evaluate dealership performance.
  • Hold department managers accountable for established monthly and annual objectives and financial goals.
  • Approve all major departmental expenditures.
  • In collaboration with the Managing Partner(s), make recommendations/changes to the operating plan and related budgets.
  • Set policies, procedures and processes for dealership.
  • Coach, counsel and evaluate direct reports.
  • Manage recruitment, interviewing, hiring and termination of staff.
  • Conduct performance reviews on a regular basis for direct reports.
  • Monthly composite review with managers
  • Set and/or approve compensation plans for dealership employees.
  • Provide appropriate training for management team to have the skills to do their job. (seminars, sales training, technical training, etc.)
  • Hold management accountable for leading their people.
  • Delegate responsibility to managers as needed.
  • Manage conflicts between departments and individuals within the dealership.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications & Job Requirements

  • Seven years or more of progressive management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage all financial and management aspects of a $50+ million-dollar business.
  • Demonstrated ability to hire, manage, and retain quality employees.
  • Preferred knowledge and experience with sales of Harley-Davidson motorcycles and other products sold by the dealership.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, along with general email/internet.
  • Experience using various Google Drive applications to include but not limited to Google Sheets and Google Docs a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to resolve problems with other dealership employees, suppliers, HarleyDavidson representative and governmental agencies.
  • Excellent communication skills including written and verbal/interpersonal.
  • Capable of maintaining confidentiality of appropriate information.
  • Must be able to multitask and input data with accuracy and efficiency in a high paced environment.

Physical Demands

  • Requires the use of both hands.
  • Occasionally required to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and lift 25lbs of material.
  • Requires standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires the ability to balance and push an 800+lb motorcycle.

Working Conditions

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Potential exposure to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning materials or other toxic materials commonly found in a motor vehicle service department.
  • Occasionally exposed to exhaust fumes or other airborne particles.
  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
