Well established fruit importer looking for an experienced fruit inspector. Successful candidate must have experience inspecting and grading fresh fruit; own transportation; arrive at work by 7:30am. Required to travel between Gloucester City, NJ and Wilmington, DE warehouses when necessary.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Knowledge of basic food safety standards and issues.
• Produce Inspection Skills, knowledge of USDA grade standards, methods and techniques
• Must be organized and have problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
• Make appropriate decisions, work independently and communicate clearly and effectively
• Must be willing to be on-call and to occasionally work evenings and/or weekends.
• Must have own car and able to travel locally
• Able to lift 40 lbs.
• Ability to speak Spanish a plus

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Inspect imported fresh fruit on arrival and periodically while in cold storage to ensure the quality of the fruit.
• Produces inspection and quality control reports that accurately communicates the analysis to sales and management.
• Advises on the selection of products for customer shipments and the managing of good inventory turnover.
• Build and maintain secure relationships with buyers-bird dogs, warehouse employees, sales managers, shippers, and growers.

Investigate and resolve quality related problems in a timely manner.

• Coordinates and participates in product selection and repacking operations. Monitors the quality control inspections for these operations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
