Position Summary

Oak Point University is recruiting for a Founding Program Director for its new Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) Training Program. The position will be based in Oak Brook, IL and will successfully lead the opening of unique program. The Director will prepare the program for NAACLS accreditation eligibility which will train individuals to become Medical Laboratory Scientists. Manage overall operation and performs instruction, of the Medical Laboratory Scientist Program in accordance with the policies of the University and the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) program certification. Also assists in the promotion of acceptable academic standards and ongoing program effectiveness through the delivery of curriculum and training designed to develop competent, professional, Medical Laboratory Scientists. Interacts effectively with faculty, staff, students, and other customers of our services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Obtains and maintains National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) Program certification.
• Exercise administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability for all functions, training, and activities of the Medical Laboratory Scientist Program.
• Instructs students didactically in clinical laboratory science in the classroom setting.
• Provides coordination for guest lecturers; student rotation schedule; and clinical rotation sites
• Assist in preparing and maintaining budgetary expenditures within the fiscal guidelines.
• Manages prospective student experience in conjunction with the employers
• Manages Faculty recruitment and performance.
• Liaison and maintain good working relationships between the organization and the sponsoring employers.
• Maintain required documentation and ensure confidentiality of program records.
• Must obtain 36 hours CME credit every 3 years
• Enhances professional growth and development by accessing educational programs, job related literature, in-service meetings, and workshops/seminars. Maintains current knowledge of development and alumni issues and trends through continuing professional development.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience

• Master's Degree (Required), Doctoral Degree (Preferred)
• Minimum of 3 years- teaching in a clinical laboratory and didactic and/or clinical teaching experience (Required)
• Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
• Effective verbal and written communications skills.
• Effective time management and organization skills.
• Enthusiastic and passionate about working with a variety of stakeholders to provide high quality services with seamless operations.
