Aktiv Pharma Group is hiring for a Formulation Chemist/Scientist. We are a fast-growing company focused on addressing unmet medical needs through a proprietary drug delivery system.

The Formulation Chemist will be a member of the Analytical Development core program in the role of designing and developing new formulas based on organizational needs and product specifications.

The compensation range for the Formulation Chemist is $86,000 - $101,000 annually.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Lead the formulation, product development including pre-formulation activities, buffer/excipient screening and selection, developing lyophilized or freeze stable formulations (as well as liquid formulations) for parenteral applications
  • Lead/Assist in the final formulation in small batches as well as assisting with initial scale up batch manufacturing.
  • Perform analytical assays as needed to assess stability and integrity of drug product formulations
  • Provide technical support to the organization including but not limited to the Quality team, Regulatory team, and Product Development team.
  • Maintain accurate formula files, test samples, pilot samples, and raw material files. This includes GMP documentation of SDS and ingredient COAs
  • Prepare technical reports, project monthly reports, PowerPoint presentations and other documentation reflecting the project(s) progress
  • Follow appropriate lab safety practices and perform job duties in a compliant and safe manner.
  • Other duties that may be required.

Job Qualifications

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong Analytical thinking skills
  • Experience with HPLC testing and other stability testing methods
  • Proficient in analytical methods for freeze-dry formulations
  • Strong understanding of cGMP guidelines and FDA regulations related to the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience with FDA and other regulatory agency requirements
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of team dynamics, structure, roles, and responsibilities
  • Excellent ability to embrace ambiguity and complexity and demonstrate problem solving leadership with limited oversight; ability to translate complex concepts into actionable, measurable tasks
  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively to changing environments
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead others through change
  • Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes and key project decisions without authority
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team focused environment

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of science degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience within a pharmaceutical industry.
  • Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related discipline preferred, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience within a pharmaceutical industry.
  • Doctoral degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related discipline preferred, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience within a pharmaceutical industry.

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Valid driver’s license.
