The Forklift Operator uses the forklift to timely move and place grocery product in designated bin locations so that product is available for Order Selectors. The Forklift Operator follows onboard, computer-directed work orders to ensure product is rotated properly and available as needed in the distribution center.
Responsibilities
- Operated heavy equipment such as pallet-jacks, forklifts, or reach trucks according to established standards after completing training
- Follow onboard work directions from warehouse management system, meeting the minimum productivity requirements and work standards
- Replenish product in bin locations and move product to reserve locations
- Store reserve pallets
- Monitor and report inventory discrepancies to managements, such as incorrect pallets and/or cases in pick slots
- Ensure product integrity and the cold chain is maintained throughout the replenishment process
- Other responsibilities include:
- Stacking residual cases from bin locations onto new pallets
- Removing debris from pallets and bin locations
- Sorting pallets
- Stacking product in floor locations
- Other duties as assigned by management (or designee)
- Adhere to company policies, standards and best practices, including safety and attendance standards
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Successful completion of Powered Industrial Operations Training (PITOT) certification required
- Six to twelve months experience safely operating industrial equipment and/or other warehouse experience preferred
- Strong detail oriented
- Must be able to read, write and speak in English. Demonstrative effective oral and written communication skills. Language proficiency in Spanish or other languages are a plus in certain locations
- Proficiency in basic math skills required
- Team spirited, self-motivated, problem-solving, and initiative to support the needs of a fast-paced environment
- Dependable and flexible, including willingness to work in other areas of the warehouse, as needed with little or no advance notice
- Willing to work shifts on varying days of the week, including holidays and weekends
- Able to understand and update radio functions of the warehouse management system
- Must be able to bend, twist, kneel, squat, turn, reach, and occasionally lift boxed files and small supply packages up to 85 pounds
- Must be able to transport various objects weighing 20-85 lbs. repeatedly throughout the shift
- Must have the ability to sit, stand, walk and move about for extended periods of time
- Requires the ability to sort, file and pouch paperwork for extended periods of time
- May occasionally be required to visit temperature controlled areas of the warehouse including freezers, coolers and refrigerators with temperatures as low as -15 degrees Fahrenheit
