The Forklift Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing services related to the repair and maintenance of Cloverdale forklifts and material handling equipment. The Forklift Maintenance Technician must be a driven and self-motivated individual who can work overtime and weekends as request. They must possess knowledge of general hand tools, ability to read basic schematics, understand basic AC and DC theory, understanding hydraulic systems and work well with others.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide preventative maintenance (PM) services.

2. Perform routine, emergency and preventative maintenance of equipment.

3. Interpret technical manuals to perform the necessary maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs to include brake, electrical and hydraulic systems, detect imperfections, potential problems, safety issues and/or malfunctions.

4. Able to diagnose and repair mast and attachment components.

5. Good working knowledge of brake systems and tire/wheel changes.

6. Perform safety inspection of forklifts prior to being released back to the work floor.

7. Cleaning of equipment, work area and other areas as required.

8. Run computer-based diagnostics on forklifts and other products.

9. Comply with all safety & PPE requirements and operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

10. Uphold, support, and promote all company policies and procedures.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma, GED required, Technical or College degree preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience maintenance of lift trucks with ratings up to 6,000 lbs.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Tools).
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Previous experience as Forklift/Service Technician.
  • Forklift Operator certification.

WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The incumbent must quickly move about the facility while performing job duties. The employee is required to sit; use hands to touch, handle, or feel/hold objects; reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; speak; hear; taste; and smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities required for this job include close and distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to climb ladders and platforms, enter confined spaces, and wear all safety equipment. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, cold/hot temperature and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The work environment includes climate extremes found in all areas of plant.
