POSITION: FOOD SERVICE ASSISTANT II

SITE/ASSIGNMENT: COBALT INSTITUTE OF MATH AND SCIENCE (DISTRICT WIDE). THIS IS A SEVEN (7) HOURS PER DAY (TBD), 204 DAYS PER YEAR POSITION.

FILING DEADLINE: THURSDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2022, AT 4:00 P.M.

SALARY: RANGE 27 $22.54 - $27.41 PER HOUR

Under the direction of the Food Services Supervisor II, plan, coordinate and schedule food services operations at the High School Snack Bar; prepare and serve meals and other food items; prepare and maintain required records and reports; train workers.

Minimum Qualifications Required to Apply

Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years of increasingly responsible food preparation experience in a school food program.

Essential Duties

Direct work assignments for assigned Food Service Assistants.

Plan, coordinate and participate in food preparation and serving duties at the High School Snack Bar.

Train and direct the performance of Food Service Assistants.

Order from the main cafeteria, food service supplies and assure an adequate inventory of need food and supplies.

Prepare and serve meals and other food items, including main dishes.

Prepare and maintain records and reports related to food services sales and inventory.

Assure proper maintenance of cafeteria equipment, utensils and facilities; clean and sanitize work and lunch areas according to health and safety regulations.

Operate commercial kitchen equipment and the SNAP system.

Maintain established food quality standards related to taste, appearance and good nutrition.

Collect money and transfer to main cafeteria.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities / Working Conditions

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Health, safety and sanitation regulations related to food service.
Meal planning and recipe conversion procedures.
Record-keeping techniques.
ordering and inventory methods.
Basic math.
Operation and care of commercial kitchen equipment.
State of California Child Nutrition Rules and Regulations.

ABILITY TO:
Plan and organize an independent snack bar operation.
Learn to operate kitchen equipment used in quantity food preparation.
Prepare and set up food items for service to students and staff.
Learn and follow health and sanitation requirements.
Serve food to students and staff according to established procedures.
Operate a cash register and make change accurately.
Maintain food service equipment and facilities in a clean and sanitary condition.
Operate standard kitchen equipment, appliances and utensils in a safe and efficient manner; add and subtract quickly and make change accurately.
Meet schedules and time lines.
Understand and follow oral and written directions work cooperatively with others.
Lift heavy objects.
Operate the SNAP.
