Tends flakers and roller mills within the facility to produce quality grain products per specifications by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operating processing equipment and boilers.

  • Process grain through flakers and roller mill within the facility to produce product using workable knowledge of steam, hydraulic and pneumatic applications.

  • Perform production sampling and testing of the finished products to ensure quality.

  • Operate powered mobile equipment such as payloaders and skid steers to move products.

  • Perform daily inspection, cleaning, and servicing and maintain checklists.

  • Load trucks/trailers with the product.

  • Perform housekeeping duties, equipment inspections, and preventative maintenance.

  • Have working knowledge of how to properly start up/shut down all grain handling equipment associated with the process.

  • Troubleshoot equipment failures.

  • Operate and troubleshoot boilers, water softeners, and pumps and complete all required testing.

  • Maintain and complete inventories as assigned by management.

  • Ability to work 8 – 12-hour shift and work 1st, 2nd, or Graveyard shift as assigned.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, and other employees of the organization.


Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.


Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


Computer Skills:
No Computer skills are needed.


Certificates and Licenses:
May be required to maintain a current weighing license and grain grading certificate.


Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places.

The employee is occasionally required to talk or hear.

Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.
