Fitters & Welders Job at The CPI Group
Fitters & Welders are neededto work in a facility in Columbus, MS. This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday. Minimum pay will be $18/hr. may increase depending on experience. A fitter test will be required to be considered for employment.
Job Duties
- Fit and Assemble structural frameworks and housings from materials such as angle iron, I-beams, and plate steel, using hand tools and welding equipment and follow blueprint specifications.
- Lay out parts dimensions on worktable using square, chalk line, and soapstone
- Tack-weld scrap metal to outline to provide jig for assembly
- Position parts in jig and files, chisels, and grinds parts, as indicated to fit them together
- May heat parts with an acetylene torch and bend them in vise, on anvil, or around stakes mounted on table
- Tack weld fitted parts together
- Compare dimensions of assembly to blueprint specifications using square, rule, and calipers
Required Experience
- Minimum of two years of experience working as a fitter/welder
Skills
- Fitting experience
- Welding experience
- Blue print reading
- Task orientated – detailed
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
