Overview: Join our Dynamic YMCA Fitness Team!!! Under the supervision of the Regional Wellness Director, help provide leadership and support towards branch fitness and wellness operations. This includes but is not limited to helping with staff schedules, general operations and floor supervision, personal training, group exerciser, chronic disease programs, as well as equipment needs to support program function.
Responsibilities:

  • Be an advocate and key leader for exceptional customer service and communication.
  • Assist to recruit, hire and develop teams of motivated, cause driven and customer friendly staff.
  • Work with operations and HR to develop and implement standardized onboarding practices across association.
  • Help implement and lead innovative fitness, wellness, grant-funded and chronic disease programs that meet the needs of our members and community that support our membership efforts to attract and retain members.
  • Provide leadership and support towards branch fitness and wellness operations, including but not limited to helping the Health & Wellness Director with staff schedules, general orientations and floor supervision, personal training, group exercise, chronic disease programs, as well as all equipment needs to support program functions.
  • Provide approximately 50% of your hours in direct service on the fitness floor, personal training, chronic disease instruction, group exercise instruction, cleaning and COVID protocols as directed by the Health & Wellness Director.
  • Be empowered to resolve customer/member complaints.
  • Make recommendations to improve staff efficiency, program growth and innovation.
  • Assist in meeting the approved budget to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Provide support and leadership in achieving branch Annual Campaign goals.

Qualifications:

  • Current nationally recognized personal training and/or group exercise certification.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience of personal training and/or group exercise instruction.
  • Bachelor’s degree from credited college or university preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience in customer service preferred.
  • Ability to manage a budget and financial resources.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Must be CPR/AED and First Aid certified or willing to become certified within the first 30 days of employment.
