Firmware Engineer
Location: This position will be located in Moon Township, PA. (Pittsburgh)
Position Overview:
- The customer is currently seeking a Firmware Engineer to develop solutions for embedded systems and
- IoT/Connected devices, help to identify and evaluate emerging markets and technologies globally, lead
- project teams in the research, design, development, and industrialization of new innovative products and services. Identify technical solutions associated to technical issues found in electronic-based products and their applications. Assess feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering test/products/equipment.
Essential Functions:
Support firmware and software developments for embedded systems/micro-controllers
- Support software development for multiple platforms, including Windows, OS X, Linux,
embedded and web applications with a strong emphasis on the Internet of Things.
- Proven hands-on experience with digital electronic circuitry (testing, debugging, …)
- Stay abreast of market trends and emerging technologies globally, with an emphasis on
embedded and connected systems, and evaluate their potential impact on the company’s business
- Research and develop business case(s) in the new product development cycle to understand
viability of proposed products in the marketplace
- Drives enhancement of existing products and services based on evaluations of existing and new
technologies per company’s strategic plans
- Perform technical evaluations of third-party solutions and assess opportunities to develop
partnerships or and new suppliers
- Participate in project teams assigned to research, design, develop, test and/or launch new
innovations: ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Lead product certification activities acting as the company representative- UL/CSA/
- Support product line managers and/or manufacturing engineers throughout the ProLaunch
process
- Coordinates project activities with other engineering units to facilitate on-time project
completion.
- Review project-related documentation to ensure its accuracy.
- Provide technical soundness of design decisions and products changes to facilitate
manufacturing, reduce cost, substitute material, improve quality and accommodate special
customer needs.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronic or Electromechanical Engineering, computer science or similar
careers.
- MS Office, Familiarity with PADS, Altium and CAD tools
- 0-1 year in similar positions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferable: Master’s Degree
- 3+ years of experience in similar roles
- Firmware and software programming: C, C++, C#, Assembly, Python, Java, Bash, MATLAB.
- Software: Linux, UNIX, Windows, git, others
- Previous experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting engineering systems.
- Have a fundamental understanding of plastic injection molding and metal stamping processes.
- Knowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control), Lean, 6 Sigma.

Job Type: Contract
Salary: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
