Overview:
  • This position is for the Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation.
To provide leadership in surfacing and activating young farmers on the county and state level. To involve more young farmers in the overall Farm Bureau program.
Responsibilities:
Keep the Executive Vice President informed of all department activities.
Promote organization’s mission statement, goals and objectives.
Provide Executive Vice President with monthly status reports, including accomplishments, goals and objectives.
Meet and correspond on a periodic basis with county and state Farm Bureau leaders and assigned state advisory committees.
Regular, predicable attendance.
Recruit members for the State Young Farmer Advisory Committee.
Plan and attend State Young Farmer Advisory Committee Meetings.
Plan and conduct training/orientation for the State Young Farmer Advisory Committee.
Plan and conduct an annual Young Farmer Leadership Conference.
Escort the State Committee to the annual AFBF YF&R Leadership Conference.
Attend AFBF sponsored Young Farmer Coordinators Conferences.
Assist young farmers attending the AFBF Annual Meeting.
Plan and conduct a Young Farmer Summer Outing.
Attend District Young Farmer meetings and events.
Conduct the Outstanding Young Farm Family Contest.
Conduct the Discussion Meet Contest.
Conduct the Excellence in Ag Contest.
Plan and conduct the Institute for Future Agricultural Leaders (IFAL).
Plan and conduct the Collegiate Farm Bureau Program.
Assist with the Leadership Enhancement for Agricultural Development (LEAD).
Complete State Annual Meeting assignments.
Send regular communication to County Young Farmer Chairs.
Attend County Board meetings upon request.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Help Farm Bureau achieve membership quota and goals.
Be knowledgeable about state and national Farm Bureau programs, promotional efforts and activities.
Respond to requests for information on various issues.
Serve on intra and inter committees as directed.
Assist with the State Fair picnic.
Cooperate with other state staff in implementing their programs.
The duties described above are general in nature and may not completely cover all aspects of this position.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Good communication skills, oral and written.
Public speaking.
Individual must be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently and organize plan of work.
Ability to interact effectively with a team concept.
Ability to represent and communicate Farm Bureau policy, organizational goals and philosophy in a professional and accurate manner.
Ability to coordinate and complete several tasks under time constraints.
Ability to reason, negotiate and solve problems.
Ability to make and implement decisions in a timely fashion.
Ability to relate to and interact with farmers, other staff members, etc.
Ability to represent Farm Bureau in a professional manner.
Willingness to perform work assignments after office hours in order to meet job demands.
Willingness to travel overnight, attend county board meetings and conferences as needed.
