Fagerberg Farms is a diverse farming operation located in Northern Colorado raising onions, grain and silage corn, wheat, and alfalfa. Operating since 1885, Fagerberg Farms seeks to continuously implement and stay relevant with new farming technologies while remaining true to the processes that have built our farming operation. Equipment is updated frequently with most of the tractor fleet utilizing RTK guidance and truck fleet includes all well-maintained late models. Our irrigation methods include overhead, flood, and drip irrigation. The current farm crew has tremendous farming experience and intelligence and looks forward to adding a like-minded individual to their team. Job Type: Full Time, Salaried

Job Duties:

  • The Farm Equipment Operator will operate a tractor to move materials, field work and crops throughout the year and harvest.
  • Fasten implements, such as discs, plows, and rollers to tractor with hitch pins
  • Spray fertilizer or material solutions, using spray equipment to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases.
  • Operate farm equipment to move materials, tow trailers, pull out objects embedded in ground.
  • Implement & monitor sensors (and precision tracking equipment)
  • Assist in setting up irrigation systems
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance procedures and safety inspections on equipment
  • Assist with mechanical harvesting of crops
  • Assist in general mechanical repairs of equipment
  • Move equipment safely on the road from different field locations
  • Driving and carrying out regular maintenance and repairs of tractors and other farm implements.
  • Operating farm equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Collecting and distributing farm data as needed.
  • Operating tractors with RTK guidance systems equipment to prepare fields.
  • Reporting any faults or concerns to the Farm Manager and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Completing minor repairs to tractor and farm equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; one to two years farm labor experience including working with irrigation systems; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experienced operating farms equipment.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Proven, reliable work history

Additional Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be skilled in use of hand tools
  • Ability to apply common sense, understand and carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • One to two years' previous experience in a farm environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of techniques and equipment for commercial planting, spraying, fertilizing, and growing
  • Three plus years previous experience
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

Welding/Fabrication experience.

Physical Demands:

  • Environmental exposure- cold/wet conditions (40 ° or below), heat (99° or above)
  • Must be able to lift/push-pull/carry up to 50 lbs.
