PRIMARY PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for family search and engagement services under contract with CASA and the Department of Human Services District 7 (D7) Child Welfare. The goal of this position is to locate long-term, permanent connections and relationships for children and youth currently in foster care and establish a long-term emotional support network with family members and other adults who may not be able to care for the Child, but who wants to maintain connections to the Child.

This position reports to the Program Director of CASA of Coos and Curry Counties but works collaboratively and responsibly within the network of project partners.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Reason position exists is to perform these functions):

Receive and process referrals from DHS/Child Welfare D7 to perform contract duties

Read complete case file.

Perform appropriate interviews (caseworker, parents, etc.).

Perform detailed search of immediate family members and extended family members to complete family trees and identify possible relative placements.

Connect with and explore all family connections and assess the willingness/availability of family members to participate in the dependency system to offer the best placements for children in care. Use internet tools, social media, cold calling or other tools to identify as many relatives as possible while considering any requested “no contacts” by parent/parent.

Maintain current records in database and in paper files as appropriate.

Document and track findings, communicate all findings with assigned Case Worker.

Create genogram using the provided software program for each case.

Connect extended family and informal supports to the family to work with improving safety concerns, permanency, and well-being of children.

Work with Case Workers and Facilitators to organize family decision meetings or family meetings when appropriate.

Prepare monthly invoices for FF Child Welfare contract

Submit closing reports to Case Worker when case closes.

Prepare monthly and as-needed non-confidential data reports to CASA Program Director

Actively engage and support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion activities and inclusion in all work.

Responsible for personal safety, reporting incidents or accidents within a reasonable amount of time to supervisor or Safety Committee at Safetycommittee[at]orcca.us.

Responsible for picking up after oneself and maintaining company owned equipment. Report damaged or malfunction equipment to supervisor, facilities maintenance, or HR.

Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABLILITIES:

Attend the next available National CASA Pre-Service Training

Computer skills – Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Access), genogram, and any other software necessary to perform duties of the job.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Four years paid experience and/or training plus an Associate Degree or Certificate in a related field is required; OR

Bachelor’s degree plus two years’ experience in a field related to the position description is required AND

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Strong organization and time management skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Geographic Area: Coos and Curry counties.

In-Person Primary worksite: North Bend DHS District 7 offices, Oregon.

May move or lift items up to 51 pounds.

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Primarily indoors, in a climate-controlled environment; may not have access to sunlight. Occasional activities outside in a non-climate-controlled environment.

Potential for open workstations and cubicles with moderate to high noise; work from home where available.

Some travel-Required ODL and proof of insurance (ORCCA Policy).

OTHER:

Reliable method of getting to work.

Must be free from illegal drugs, may be subject to suspicion testing.

Must be able to pass the State of Oregon Criminal Background Check.

Must be able to pass ODHS Child Abuse Registry Background Check

A current Oregon Driver’s License is required.

Proof of automobile liability insurance [at] $100,000/300,000 liability limits and maintain such limits.
