  • Assist with daily grounds operations, including mowing, pruning, clean up, and planting.
  • Assist with maintaining and repair of equipment.
  • Assist with general carpentry and building maintenance, including general plumbing, electrical work, and fence repair.
  • Assist with cleaning offices, restrooms, and public spaces.
  • Assist with planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops as needed.
  • Accept other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent. 2 years experience in a related field.
  • Valid NYS driver's license and the ability to meet the travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including, but not limited to, moving and transporting fifty (50) pound bags of feed and bales of hay.
  • Ability to climb into the squeeze chute and over fences.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to perform minor mechanical and maintenance repairs.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate farm equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a team member working with volunteers and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through oral, written, and visual means.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Administrative Responsibilities:

Coordination/Operation – 95%
  • Assist with daily grounds operations, including mowing, pruning, clean up, and planting.
  • Assist with maintaining and repair of equipment.
  • Assist with general carpentry and building maintenance, including general plumbing, electrical work, and fence repair.
  • Assist with planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops as needed.
  • Assist with cleaning offices, restrooms, and public spaces.
  • Accept other duties as required.
Professional Improvement – 5%
  • In cooperation with Supervisor or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and address changes and Association priorities.
  • Collaborate in activities that support Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.
Health and Safety – Applied to all duties and functions
  • Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Be familiar with and strive to follow applicable federal, state, and local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement, and standards.
  • Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.

Salary: $16.12 per hour
Schedule: Non-exempt (20 hours)
