Job Description:
Work Location: 4-H State Office in Knapp Hall on the LSU Main Campus, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Position Description: This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position located at the LSU AgCenter Department of 4-H Youth Development in Baton Rouge, La. Continuation will be dependent on funding, job performance, and continued need for the appointment. The goal of the position is to coordinate and promote the 4-H Youth Wetlands Program, raise public awareness of the challenges facing and importance of wetlands to the state of Louisiana, and demonstrate ways all Louisiana residents can contribute to wetland restoration. The Program Coordinator will work full-time in the LSU AgCenter 4-H Youth Development unit with the Youth Wetlands and Education Outreach Program funded through the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA). The Program Coordinator is responsible for developing, maintaining, and evaluating innovative school-based curriculum which meets Department of Education student standards. The Program Coordinator serves as an instructional design liaison and content expert to software developers to provide curricular and materials resources to educators through technological program enhancements. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for creating and maintaining partnerships with outside agencies and organizations. The Program Coordinator will plan, organize, conduct, and evaluate hands-on professional trainings for educators, adult volunteers, and extension agents. The Program Coordinator is required to implement and compile results from standard knowledge evaluation instruments from youth and educators and to provide necessary and timely program and fiscal reports to 4-H Administration and CPRA. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for writing grant proposals to continue funding for this position. The Program Coordinator will supervise Youth Wetlands Program staff and/or contract employees. The Program Coordinator will also be involved in the organization and implementation of various educational components at summer camp held at Camp Grant Walker, Louisiana Outdoor Science and Technology (L.O.S.T.) Camp, as well as serving as advisor to the Louisiana 4-H Wetland Ambassadors Team. The Program Coordinator will perform other tasks that may be assigned by the 4-H Department Head and/or the LSU AgCenter Youth Development Program Leader.

Qualification Requirements: Bachelor's (Master's preferred) degree in a relevant field ( oceanography, renewable natural resources, agronomy, education, curriculum design, etc.) is required. Other degrees will be considered if combined with directly related experience. Successful experience in program development and teaching in youth organizations, educational institutions, or science-based programs is preferred. The applicant must have an interest in environmental education and the ability to grasp basic ecological principles. The applicant should be knowledgeable about curriculum design, delivery, and evaluation as well as knowledge of Louisiana public school science standards. The candidate should be competent and interested in current and emerging technology. Demonstrated competence in methods of non-formal youth development curriculum design and program delivery is also highly desirable. Grant writing and budget management is preferred.
Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options. Conditions of Employment: A personal automobile and appropriate insurance coverage is required (travel allowance provided). Satisfactory completion of two specific graduate level extension courses is generally required in the first two years of employment. Additionally, a faculty member who does not have a related master's degree must complete a minimum of 15 hours of related graduate level coursework, which includes the two graduate courses referenced above, in order to be promoted to associate agent and such promotion must occur in the first seven years of employment.
