JOB SUMMARY:* The Coordinator works under the supervision of the SUN Site Supervisor. Provides coordination of the extended day clubs and family night programs for families and youth. This is a part time position. Work schedule is generally Mondays to Thursdays from 12:30 to 5:30pm, with some variation for events and special school schedules.

Status: temporary; up to 20 hrs/week

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:*

  • Collaborate with SUN Site Supervisor and the school to create a high quality program that supports academic achievement and the healthy development of students.
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for participants.
  • Assist with tracking participants and monitoring the building to ensure safety and security.
  • Share responsibility with SUN Site Supervisor for safety planning, crisis intervention and troubleshooting.
  • Complete student tracking both accurately and timely in terms of student safety.
  • Work with students needing behavioral support to create behavior plans and monitor goals for improvement.
  • Coordinate data collection, documentation, filing and database maintenance in accordance with agency’s management information systems and program needs.
  • Facilitate outreach to and organizing of students, families, the community and local businesses to increase participation, volunteering and involvement in SUN School activities and programs.
  • Actively develop rapport with students, staff, and families.
  • Assist with the outreach and recruitment of community organizations and resources to support the SUN program, the school community and neighborhood, and the needs of students and their families.
  • Assist SUN Site Supervisor in the oversight of extended day programs and supervision of volunteers, teachers and participants.
  • Assist with hiring and training staff and volunteers as well as organizing family nights and special events.
  • Manage SUN program in SUN Site Supervisor’s absence.
  • Manage the oversight of homework support, tutoring, and mentoring at-risk students and those needing additional academic support.
  • Effectively communicate school and Impact NW policy, mission, values and decisions to program staff, volunteers, collaborating organizations and the community.
  • Effectively work with individuals of diverse backgrounds.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:*

  • Associate Degree and/or equivalent training and a minimum of two years experience in the field of education or related human service field.
  • Positive kid management and communication skills.
  • Well-versed in Google Suite.
  • Able to create attractive promotional materials, spreadsheets, and perform data entry.
  • Knowledge of the Portland and local school community.
  • Excellent coordinating and organizational skills including the ability to engage a broad spectrum of community members in Impact NW programs and activities.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and complete multiple and varied tasks.
  • Ability to communicate directly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Positive outlook and sense of humor under stress.
  • Sensitivity and ability to relate to people from diverse lifestyles and cultures with an equity lens.
  • Ability and willingness to work as a team member and support the mission and goals of Impact NW.

PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual and cross cultural knowledge and skills.
  • Experience in volunteer management, administration, and staff supervision.

THIS JOB ALSO REQUIRES THE FOLLOWING PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Repetitive motion, prolonged sitting and extensive visual involvement
  • Frequent moving throughout the building, and on feet for long periods of time
  • Ability to efficiently travel in order to perform duties and other agency related errands
  • Moderate lifting

Pay: $21.00 per hour
