Westfield Farm is seeking a team-player to join the dynamic staff of our growing equestrian facility in Boyce, Virginia and lead our Farm Maintenance team. The Farm Manager is responsible for the supervision of the farm and The Tuleyries, our neighboring property. This position will collaborate with various department leaders to ensure the property's land, roads, and structures are maintained with both aesthetics and function in mind. This vital role ensures that all employees are collaborating to complete important projects in an efficient and effective manner, and maintains the property properly for our equestrians, horses, fellow staff, and property owners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of 2-5 Farm Maintenance Specialists
  • Organizing, scheduling, and supervising work requests submitted by fellow department leaders with regards to the Westfield Farm property
  • Design and implement pasture management plan including bushhogging, harrowing, mowing, and picking
  • Supervise Farm Maintenance team in regular activities such as mowing, string-trimming, equipment repairs, road repairs, facility repairs, fence repairs, and other maintenance of fields and horse pastures
  • Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of all farm structures and equipment
  • Coordinate and monitor appropriate external vendors as needed for special projects and repairs
  • Participate in planning meetings with fellow department leaders and property owners

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in an agriculture-related field
  • 3+ years management experience
  • Familiarity working with and and around horses required
  • Ability to confidently and safely operate a wide array of farm equipment, including snow-plows and a variety of power tools
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Must promote a team environment and interact positivity and warmly with internal and external stakeholders
  • Must be detail-oriented and self-motivated with great problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Regular standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and pulling and pushing with arms
  • Regular use of farm equipment
  • Regular work outside in all types weather
  • Regular work at a desk on a computer

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $43,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
