Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform a workplace examination for areas defined by a shift leader
  • Prior to operating equipment, conduct routine inspections to identify needed maintenance or repairs.
  • If maintenance or a repair is needed immediately report the problem to your supervisor
  • Operate a skid steer loader to clean spilled material as needed
  • Operate an XRF, per the Standard Operating Procedure
  • Operate company vehicles when asked
  • Perform or assist with necessary repairs and adjustments to equipment when asked
  • Perform routine maintenance when asked
  • Collect samples throughout the plant as determined by the Lead Metallurgist
  • Reports findings as per the Standard Operating Procedure
  • Communicate with supervisor to determine the flocculant process
  • Perform general housekeeping duties as needed including by not limited to washing floors using a high-pressure water hose, wiping down working areas, putting tools back in designated areas, removing mud, clay, rocks, and other debris from process plant components
  • Painting, which includes but is not limited to handrails, buildings, floors, etc.
  • Harness up when there is a danger of falling
  • Adhere to all safety rules, guidelines, and codes
  • All other duties assigned

Skills/Abilities:

  • Understanding of density, grade, and pH as it pertains to sample collection
  • Understanding how slurry flow affects the outcome of sample collection
  • Accurately calibrate a Marcy scale to receive results
  • Skill in operating assigned equipment safely and efficiently
  • Ability to follow instructions.

Physical:

  • Ability to handle environmental obstacles, including, but not limited to working during extreme cold and heat. Working areas will include rocky, uneven terrain
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, squat, and kneel for an extended period
  • Ability to safely lift 50lbs
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-traffic work environment
  • Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine needs

Safety:

  • Comply with all MSHA standards as outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations
  • Comply with all company safety standards and policies
  • Correct any safety hazards found that can be immediately corrected
  • Report any unsafe conditions that cannot be immediately corrected
  • Report all accidents, regardless of the severity
  • Report to work in a ready state fit for duty
  • Immediately stop work if the work is not safe or cannot be performed in a safe way
  • Participate in daily pre-shift safety discussions
  • Participate in safety meetings
  • Keep work areas neat and orderly
  • Use all personal protective equipment when required
