ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN III

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential job functions include operation; modification; overhaul; corrosion control; fabrication; and testing of mechanical, electro-mechanical, electro-optical, optical-mechanical, and hydraulic systems. Systems and equipment may include complex electro-optical tracking instrumentation such as cinetheodolites, video trackers, Laser Ranging and Tracking Cinesextants, and Kineto Tracking Mounts. Also included may be infrared target systems, rocket launchers, and environmental conditioning systems. Duties may require complete disassembly and reassembly of system components, stripping and repainting of system exteriors, and fiberglass repairs. May be required to transport, set up, and operate support equipment such as generators; operate towing vehicles and trailers; elevating platforms, cranes, bucket trucks, and/or forklifts.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must be able to read, write and communicate clearly and four years of related experience are required. A Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) may be required.




GENERAL DUTIES: This position is in support of the U.S. Army Training Ranges and requires shift work. May be required to work overtime and weekends. This position is responsible for range control and/or range inspections for Test/Training Ranges B-88, C-53A, and C-52 on Eglin AFB. Duties include entering data into the Range Facility Maintenance Support Systems (RFMSS), conducting inspections, hourly radio checks, disseminating weather warnings and conducting range certification briefings; perform housekeeping, range maintenance, vehicle inspections, and other duties as required. Supports E-OMS operational objectives; observes company quality, safety, environmental, security, and administrative policies; supports process improvement.

OTHER DUTIES: Disseminating weather warnings and conducting range certification briefings; perform housekeeping, range maintenance, and vehicle inspections. Will perform general housekeeping, facility inspections, and other job related tasks. May be required to handle hazardous material/hazardous waste and other duties as assigned. May be required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. All selected candidates must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation and drug test as a condition of placement into this position. Four years of military experience in combat arms, Military Police, or instructor level military weapons training is desired. Army Range Control experience is preferred and highly desirable. Experience with RFMSS firing desk operations, Army weapons systems, and live fire training is highly desirable. Must have excellent verbal and military radio communication skills. Must have excellent organizational skills, interpersonal, skills, and work with minimal supervision. Knowledge and experience handling emergency medical situations is highly desirable. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work may be performed at various heights above ground level. May perform duties both inside and outside and be subjected to a variety of environmental conditions typical to the work area.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: : Must be capable of performing required tasks while using wide variations of physical effort such as sitting, (tracking through telescopes for long durations), running, walking, standing, crawling, climbing or remaining in awkward, sometimes strained, positions for extended periods of time.
