Job Description
Objective
Ensure all customer returns are tested and analyzed in detail to confirm any faults and identify liability. Determine root cause analysis and provide corrective feedback to resolve issues. Provide sufficient detailed analysis and escalate to a higher level to enable issue resolution. Work on many sub-tasks of QA, Warranty management, with results impacting on decisions taken to resolve technical issues.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • This position demands attention to detail, accuracy and technical competence, with in-depth knowledge of automotive specifications and automotive electronics and knowledge of test procedures required for automotive parts. This position requires the efficient and accurate attention to details of design procedures for efficiency and overall plant profitability.
  • Perform root cause analysis; electrical and mechanical - on failed product returns from automotive assembly plants and dealerships within customer timelines.
  • Operate electronic laboratory test and measurement equipment – oscilloscopes, function generators, spectrum analyzers, digital multi-meter, and power supplies.
  • Program and operate temperature chamber, x-ray system, and other laboratory test and validation equipment to ensure product compliance with customer specifications.
  • Maintain records of inspections, test data, analysis results, and defects - properly enter customer information into an internal customer returns database.
  • Generate detailed technical analysis reports for Quality Engineering.
  • Generate detailed defective IC and component reports to be submitted to suppliers.
  • Utilize, modify, design, and fabricate various product test systems.
  • Assist Quality Engineering and RTA departments with root cause analysis on production line failures.
  • Team with Quality Engineering and Production staff members regarding root cause analysis and implementation of counter measures.
  • Team with Design & Development Engineering and Engineering Test Laboratory team members to discuss technical issues, test procedures, and test results.
  • Support occasional tests and inspections at customer assembly plants and tier supplier locations.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to troubleshoot analog and digital circuitry on micro-controller based embedded systems; from a systems level and down to the PCB component level.
  • Basic knowledge of the micro-controller function and operation within an embedded system.
  • High proficiency reading / understanding electrical schematics, drawings, component datasheets, and product design specifications.
  • 3+ years’ experience with PCB inspection and electronic circuit troubleshooting.
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, function generators, multi-meters, network analyzers.
  • Ability to read and understand electronic circuit schematics and system diagrams.
  • Ability to effectively function in a fast-paced laboratory environment where critical thinking and excellent problem solving skills are required.
  • Excellent critical thinking and math skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a self-sufficient manner; and work successfully as an integral part of a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently with multiple priority changes throughout the work day.
  • High organization / detail orientation with excellent writing / verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills when interacting with customers and department team members.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Access.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, as needed with minimal notice, or an occasion weekend when technical issues have been escalated and resolutions need to be provided immediately.
  • Expertise with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949.
  • Effective internal / external auditing skills preferred.
  • 3 + years of directly related design experience in automotive environment desired.

Certifications:
