Description:


Perform specialized work of substantial variety and complexity. Receive objectives and technical advice from supervisor, or engineer. Assist in the design of new systems, processes, product or equipment. Work on segments of development projects, constructing experimental or prototype models to meet technical requirements, conducts tests or experiments, evaluates and records data and may be required to present a written or oral report on the evaluation results.

1. Layout, build, test, troubleshoot, repair and modify developmental and production electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems.

2. Draw sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units.

3. Assemble experimental circuitry (breadboard) or complete prototype model according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, and knowledge of electronic systems and components.

4. Set up standard test apparatus or devises test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model.

5. Complete documentation of test equipment, schematics, wiring diagrams and assembly instructions.

6. Participate in creating Project Plans including Project Schedules. This includes estimating time required to implement various tasks associated with test development, establish milestones and meet those milestones.

7. Effectively use AMS’s Product Development Process and industry standard product development methodologies and design tools. Test Requirements Document, architecture, high-level design, detail design, schematics, revision control, modular coding, code coverage testing, boundary testing, developer testing and product verification testing. Design reviews are conducted throughout the development process. Participate in the continuous improvement of engineering practices and procedures.

8. As an individual contributor, meet project objectives with innovation, creativity and good engineering practice. Design new, innovative product tests and enhancements/improvements to current tests. Seek new and better technologies and methods to increase test performance. When appropriate initiate putting in additional hours to stay off assigned project’s critical path.

9. Continuously improve skills required; seeking training through seminars, literature, industry shows/workshops and relevant course work.

10. Provide all aspects of equipment calibration including entering calibration records in CEBOS. Perform calibration of various pieces of instrumentation including: NI DAQ cards, Wet Baths, and Manufacturing Test Fixtures.

11. Assist engineering personnel with regression testing of AMS products.

12. Automate testing associated with engineering investigations including reliability testing and product failure investigations.

13. Provide technical support and repair of manufacturing test systems.

Requirements:


QUALIFICATIONS

1. High level of natural curiosity of relevant technologies.

2. Experience using formal Product Development Processes.

3. Highly proficient in use of hand tools.

4. Demonstrated knowledge of electronics, electrical components and fabrication techniques.

5. Capable of reading schematics and mechanical diagrams.

6. Highly proficient in various computer applications including word processing, and spreadsheets.

7. Well organized, attentive to detail, and able to work well independently.

8. Proficiency in using various types of test and measuring equipment including: oscilloscopes, meters, logic analyzer, function generator, etc.

9. Work experience in ISO 9001 Certified companies.

10. A demonstrated interest in continuing education in relevant technology areas.

11. Medical product development a plus.

12. Excellent oral and written communications abilities.

13. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Education: High school graduate or equivalent.

A.S. Electronics or Equivalent Experience.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 4+ years of progressive related experience.
