Position Summary: Assemble with Care ? Use your mechanical talents to assemble custom made doors following templates and instructions. Work with your team to trouble shoot issues and produce the highest quality product possible.   • Assemble with Care ? Use your mechanical talents to assemble custom made doors following templates and instructions. Work with your team to trouble shoot issues and produce the highest quality product possible.
  • Team Support ? Operate upstream equipment and processes to facilitate product flow and feed downstream activities. Work with CNC equipment, hand tools and various measurement devices.
  • Continually Improve ? Participate in various continuous improvement activities, lending your voice to the creative problem-solving process.

Essential Functions:

  • Setup and operate all production equipment in assigned department
  • Read, comprehend and execute activity using drawing templates, schematics, hardware instructions.
  • Advanced understanding of door hardware preparation and/or installation.
  • Ability to identify assembly issues in assigned department and other departments.
  • Able to train others and aid in other departments.
  • Subject Matter Expert in at least one aspect of assigned department
  • Proficiency and operation of key equipment in secondary department
  • Models best practice in daily work including continuous improvement, minimal reworks, quality checks and QAT involvement.
  • Follows all Special-Lite safety policies and calls attention to unsafe practices or conditions

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 5 years of experience building, assembling, and/or repairing products through following blue prints, templates, installation instructions and/or schematics
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude as evidenced through relevant past work experiences which could include manual machining, carpentry, locksmithing, mechanical or electrical installation, HVAC, or construction

Physical Requirements:

Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate equipment, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.

Frequently required to stand and walk.

Frequently required to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Occasionally subject to loud noise and at times noise level may require the employee to shout to be heard above ambient noise level

Work Environment:

Safety glasses and steel toe shoes are required on the production floor at all times.

Employees are required to wear hearing protection in designated areas.

Occasionally exposed to cold, wet, hot and/or humid shop conditions.

Special-Lite manufactures engineered architectural products, which includes commercial entrance systems, interior aluminum (Type II) framing with swing or sliding aluminum framed doors, and FRP restroom partitions. Our interior and exterior complete entrance system products are fiberglass or aluminum flush doors with many door face texture options including wood grain, aluminum monumental (stile & rail) doors, fiberglass and aluminum framing. Our engineered, made to order architectural products are used in new construction and renovation projects for educational, commercial, institutional, industrial and municipal applications. The company was founded in 1971 and pioneered the use of fiberglass reinforced polyester (FRP) material for door skins in the early 1980's, and today is the largest volume producer of commercial FRP doors in the United States.
