We are looking to hire an experienced DME Medical Records Review Specialist. The DME Medical Records Review Specialist is knowledgeable about equipment and supplies, insurance, and medical terminology. They will thrive in a fast-paced, family environment.

As a DME Medical Record Review Specialist, the knowledge of what is needed to qualify patients for different types of equipment/supplies for various insurances is essential.

We are in search of a Medical Records Review Specialist. This position will consist of Medical Record Review, and data entry of patient information. Audits for and secures complete documentation to ensure payment for DME services that have been provided. Engaged in the contacting of and follow-up with physicians, other clinicians, and individuals for needed clarification of records and additional information. Independently troubleshoots and resolves complex documentation issues to completion daily. Knowledge of insurance, HCPCS codes, and medical terminology experience is required.

Medical Records Review Specialist job responsibilities:

  • Knowledgeable of Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance companies' regulations and guidelines for dispensing durable medical equipment and supplies.
  • Audits incoming CMN and medical records for accuracy.
  • Review medical documentation required to support medical necessity for dispensing of DME and Supplies
  • Reviews documentation to support medical necessity and ongoing need for various durable medical equipment items.
  • Able to converse with clinicians and office staff to follow up on outstanding requests and to describe the information required.
  • Must be a self-starter who can troubleshoot challenges on the fly
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Detail oriented
  • Comply with all company, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations, including HIPPA.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and conduct yourself in a professional, ethical, and knowledgeable manner toward a supervisor, patients, referral sources, co-workers, colleagues, subordinates, and members of the public.
  • Report to work regularly, timely and gives advanced notice to supervisor for time off

Requirements and skills:

High school degree or GED Required

Minimum of one year experience in DME or medical field.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

Strong computer skills

If you have this experience, it’s a plus:

Associated Degree and/or college coursework

Brightree Software Experience
