Job Purpose/Summary

The Drayage Dispatcher will be in charge of planning the utilization of the drivers/owner operators. Cost effective and service driven dispatching of all import, export, and other equipment activities. Think “outside the box” and strive to dispatch in such a fashion that extra costs are minimal and Company Drivers/ Owner Operators work production is maximized. As well as be accountable for planning and strategies to optimize the daily dispatch to maximize driver and equipment capacity, avoiding demurrage, equipment per diem, dry runs, bobtails, incorrect deliveries, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides load planning, driver scheduling/appointments, and dispatch duties for in house owner operator fleet.
• Verify the pre-dispatch to make sure containers are updated properly in the system to include locations and scheduled delivery dates clear of any fees.
• Maintains positive and encouraging working relations with all dispatchers, drivers and csr's
• Utilize Trinium system to address issues and document interaction
• in the event of major service failure / issue, reach out to drivers.
• Respond promptly to drivers/ owner op messages and phone calls.
• Accurate and timely entry into operation system of loads status
• Maintain dispatch system accuracy and in live status; ensure completed work is updated and cleared properly in the system, including but not limited to proper dates and destinations.
• Enter notable daily progress, challenges, changes, issues, and all other matters for each equipment move (chassis/container) utilizing dispatch system notes; detailed notes should be entered in each container regarding challenges, changes, issues, and all other matters. This must happen to ensure that anyone going into the system to review charges, payments, etc. can easily see what the circumstances are for each move.
• Dispatching drivers and checking on their status for any wait time or container issues
• Assists with implementing Safety, Security, and Operational rules and procedures
• Ensures accurate and timely completion of daily and weekly tasks
• Prioritize calls according to urgency and importance
• Use phone and/or computer to send drivers and owner ops to appropriate locations
• Monitor the route and status of drivers and owner ops to coordinate and prioritize their schedules
• Monitor import and/or export container termination status updates from port websites
• Communicate team on daily progress, challenges, changes, terminal issues, equipment issues via email and by sending a daily recap report.
• Reply to emails timely and professionally
• REASONING ABILITY: Can apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Other duties as required and assigned; there will always be a time where Management will task you with something that may be outside the day-to-day functions of your department. You will be expected to take on those added responsibilities for as long as it is required. As with any task you are assigned, we ask that you do it with a positive attitude and to the best of your ability.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour
