Oversee and manage all development-related programs and functions with the aim of properly engaging supporters in the organization, making them feel part of the Catalyst Family, Inc.

Essential Job Functions

  • Review, update and implement Catalyst Family’s annual fundraising plan to achieve the annual financial goal
  • Manage all staff, consultants, committees, and volunteers in development functions
  • Implement a fundraising plan with annual benchmarks for the engagement of donors and partners that includes individuals, corporations, foundations, government, and other nonprofit organizations that support Catalyst
  • Drive all fundraising efforts including grant making, tracking, special events, direct mail and online fundraising, major, special, and community giving strategies and stewardship
  • Manage every aspect of the gift cycle including initiating contacts, developing, and implementing cultivation strategies, moving potential donors to solicitation and closure, making solicitations when appropriate, and managing all donor stewardship activities
  • Oversee the implementation of a donor software program and manage staff responsible for data entry and gift processing
  • Supervise the Resource Development staff
  • Manage Catalyst’s outside consultants for grant writing, special events, marketing & communication, and online fundraising/direct mail
  • Collaborate in oversight of the Catalyst Family website, social media, and online fundraising platforms
  • Manage the Board Fund Development Committee, the Planned Giving Committee, and ad hoc committees as needed
  • Represent Catalyst at civic and community events
  • Plan special events
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and laws, maintain accountability to donors, and ensure compliance with the ethical standards of professional conduct
  • Other duties as assigned

Management Role

At this level, the job often requires close supervision, generally of a rather small number of employees, and it is frequently necessary to train and instruct others, and to plan and direct work. Supervisory responsibilities consume moderate amounts of work time and may include input into the development of budgets, some financial and inventory control responsibility, and general work planning tasks. Most first-line supervisors or office managers are typically at this level.

  • Develops and administer an annual expense and/or revenue generation budget for a major segment of the organization. Monitors expenses and/or revenue generated and reports significant variances to ensure conformance with approved budget.

  • This position works formally with other individuals among several departments. Formal interactions and/or collaborations outside the organization ARE necessary to meet position expectations.

Education and Experience:

The MINIMUM formal relevant education required by the position.

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, or related field required
  • Preferred: MA/MS degree in related field

Experience

The MINIMUM relevant experience necessary to qualify for the position.

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience working in development and stewardship activities
  • Preferred: 1-2 years of experience in managing others

Other Qualifications:

  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
  • Demonstrated experience managing staff and volunteers
  • Knowledge of donor software and other fund development tools
  • Communicates effectively with supervisor (accepts feedback, addresses concerns, and remains professional)
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in the fields of child-care, youth development, and/or education is preferred.
  • Strong written communication skills: ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
  • Deadline-driven with strong editing skills and attention to detail. Able to organize effectively and independently assigned tasks and work within deadlines.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships by dealing tactfully, cooperatively, effectively, and respectfully with staff members, members of Board of Directors, community organizations, representatives of funding sources, contractors, governmental and regulatory bodies, and the public.
  • Highly skilled in fiscal, statistical, and administrative research and report preparation. Able to clearly and creatively present data in text and graphics.
  • Proficient with text management and desktop publishing software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, or similar software
  • Maintains professionalism in the community
