The Catholic Diocese of Clevelandwas founded on April 23, 1847. It is the twenty-third largest diocese in the United States. The Most Reverend Edward C. Malesic was installed as the 12th Bishop of Cleveland on September 14, 2020. The diocese encompasses the counties of Cuyahoga, Summit, Lorain, Lake, Geauga, Medina, Wayne and Ashland. There are more than 670,000 Catholics in the Diocese, and Catholic Charities- Diocese of Cleveland is one of the largest diocesan systems of social services in the world. There are 185 parishes, 107 Catholic schools, 1 pastoral center and 1 mission office within the diocese. The cathedral is the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, located in downtown Cleveland. Members of the diocesan staff support the Bishop in ministering to the people of God by working together to provide vision, leadership and service to continue the mission of Jesus to transform the world. Under the leadership of the executive director for communications, the director of marketing will fulfill a strategic and tactical set of responsibilities primarily focused on promoting Catholic school education, evangelization, and increasing enrollment in Catholic schools.

The director of marketing promotes Catholic school education at the diocesan level while providing guidance, direction and service to parishes and schools at the local level, supporting efforts to identify their unique attributes, establish a consistent brand, effectively market the parish and school individual value propositions, track and engage the interest of prospective families, encourage increased admissions applications, enroll an optimum number of students, retain those students through graduation, and build future enrollment and school viability.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Oversee the design, development, and implementation of the diocesan marketing campaign/plan to raise awareness of the value, scope, and impact of Catholic school education.

· In collaboration with the superintendent, the evangelization office leadership, and the communications office leadership, develop and maintain the brand for Catholic school education

· Produce high quality marketing and publicity publications, including annual reports, posters, flyers, brochures, mailings, etc.

· Continually collaborate with the Office of Catholic Education leadership to ensure Catholic school education is always properly positioned in the media and marketplace.

· Develop and maintain a strong Catholic education social media presence.

· Collect and analyze enrollment data, retention data, website and social media analytics, and other relevant data and metrics; utilize the data to track effectiveness of current marketing activity, identify trends, and shape recommendations for advanced strategies toward robust school enrollment.

· Identify schools with declining enrollment patterns and work directly with school leaders and enrollment coordinator to increase enrollment.

· Assists and supports school leaders and leadership teams in creating and implementing effective marketing and enrollment management plans.

· Prepare, present, and coordinate publicity, marketing and enrollment management training and workshops for education office leadership, individual parish and school leaders and leadership teams, and school staff and volunteers in support of increased and sustained enrollment.

· Develop, manage, and disseminate marketing and publicity resources for centralized Catholic education website and recommend continuous improvement upgrades for website design and content aligned with promotion and publicity plan.

· Provide guidance and expertise to schools to develop and advance the school’s marketing materials and advertising strategies and activities.

· Serve as a content and marketing resource for message development, mailings, social media promotions, poster design and distribution, and advertising materials.

· Assist with grant writing and applications related to school marketing and promotion.

· Promote high visibility for the diocesan Catholic Schools Week and other events through multiple vehicles and support individual schools to leverage events and celebrations toward increased enrollment.

· Consult with approved external resources to keep abreast of best practices for marketing and increased enrollment.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Demonstrated commitment to the Catholic Church and Catholic education, to include the ability to uphold and promote the Church’s mission, traditions, and teachings.

· A thorough knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church and it’s teachings and respect and alignment with Catholic vision and teaching on education, social, moral, and ethical issues.

· Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

· Familiarity with Catholic school education and expected outcomes for Catholic education formation experiences.

· Minimum of 5 years of marketing leadership experience.

· Keen familiarity and proficiency with current software and media platforms, understanding of best practices in contemporary electronic communications and contemporary audiences.

· Impeccable professional communication skills, to include the ability to facilitate impactful training and productive critical conversations.

· Exceptional abilities in editing written and spoken materials and scripts.

· Expertise in marketing strategies, design, and graphics.

· Demonstrated capacity to support the public relations efforts of communications leadership and educational leadership.

· Experience in leading staff and building consensus.

· Commitment to and consistent success in meeting deadlines.

· Highly self-motivated, with ability to successfully prioritize concurrent multiple projects with demanding expectations and deliverables.

· Capacity and enthusiasm for serving and meeting commitments with joy and excellence.

· Reliable transportation for travel throughout the 8 counties of the diocese.
