The Director oversees the administration of federal, state, and institutional funds in accordance with federal and state compliance guidelines and institutional policies and procedures. This position executes the efficient and effective daily administrative and organizational functions of the Financial Aid Office and Veteran Services. Supervises staff and assists with in-service training.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS :

1. Hires and manages Financial Aid staff, and provides support by setting priorities, training and cross-training, and offering opportunities for growth and development.
2. Administers all federal, state and institutional student financial assistance programs, assuring institutional compliance with federal and state guidelines and requirements for such programs and managing and allocating all funding in an accountable fiduciary manner.
3. Oversees all federal, state and institutional student aid reporting, including FISAP, Program Participation Agreement, and communicating with federal and state regulatory and agency staff.
4. Completes applications for federal and state financial aid and veteran educational assistance programs.
5. Monitors changes in federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to financial aid, veteran assistance programs, and communicates impact of changes to College departments and personnel. Executes appropriate action plans as needed for regulatory changes.
6. Develops and manages the financial aid department budget and perform periodic cost and productivity analyses.
7. Coordinates applications, communication, and implementation of veteran education programs.
8. Develops and implements policies and procedures which support the mission and goals of the college.
9. Works collaboratively both within the department and with colleagues from other college departments to solve problems in a manner that meets the needs of students while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
10. Leads student financial aid audit preparation and provides information to the auditors as requested.
11. Engages with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the office works collaboratively with campus partners to complete the disbursement of financial aid and scholarships.
12. Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.

KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

1. Knowledge of state, federal financial aid, veteran services regulations, requirements and procedures.
2. Knowledge of accounting and budget management.
3. Expertise on non-institutional software including U.S. Department of Education Systems (COD, NSLDS).
4. Proficient in student information systems and databases.
5. Skills in both written and oral communication; and excellent spelling, grammar, and editing skills.
6. Skill in planning and organization.
7. Skill in troubleshooting, problem solving, and conflict-resolution.
8. Skill in using MS Office Suite and other College-supported software.
9. Ability to maintain professionalism, patience, cooperation, understanding in stressful situations.
10. Demonstrated commitment to student service.
11. Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
12. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
13. Ability to work/interact with/serve diverse clients.
14. Ability to pay close attention to detail.
15. Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment.

Required Qualification
Bachelor’s degree with five (5) years of experience in a comprehensive office of financial student aid.

Two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Equivalent combination of education and/or work-related experience considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree preferred.

FAAC and/or NASFAA credentials preferred.
Physical Demands
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Salary/Hourly Rate $72,760 minimum Department Financial Aid
