The Director of Family Living (also known as LifeSharing) oversees Family Living Providers who provide care for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ID). Within our Family Living homes Individuals live with a host person, family or friend. Services and supports are provided for that person depending on their specific needs. Family Living encourages the individual to interact in the community while increasing meaningful relationships with others. Share unforgettable moments with that special person and learn from each other. This helps people grow and develop to their fullest potential. Host families consult with physicians, family members, and the support team about the individual including progress and ongoing development.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates/promotes a culture centered on building self-directed lives with the people we support.
  • Demonstrates effective administration of assigned units; complies with established administrative policies and duties.
  • Displays principles of good management and applies these principles in daily work performance.
  • Assures program needs are met.
  • Abides by established policies and procedures of the agency, County and State; offers direction and supervision for compliance for Direct Support Staff.
  • Makes independent decisions regarding program operations within his/her authority.
  • Evaluates and appropriately acts in emergency situations, assists as needed.
  • Notifies the Regional Director in an accurate and timely manner of unusual incidents, problems, and changes in individual Person Centered Plans.
  • Plans development and implementation of the Person Centered Plans
  • Promotes a positive working relationship with all Family Living hosts.
  • Supervise, evaluate and ensure appropriate services and care are being provided to the individual.
  • Assures the individuals have a comfortable, clean, orderly, and safe living environment.
  • Coordinates and reviews the careful preparation of individual’s records and ensures that they are kept accurate and up to date.
  • Maintains statistics and prepares and submits as directed by supervisor.
  • Coordinates and completes all related programmatic documents, and is responsible for their development, review, and revision.
  • Provides input to Regional Director to facilitate contacts with County, State, Day Programs, and Community Services.
  • Provides direct support as needed.
  • Ensures that programmatic and behavioral routines are followed and implemented as written; follows established procedures when making changes.
  • Remains aware of behavioral and/or medical status of residents; notifies appropriate authorities.
  • Participates in the training and evaluation of Family Living hosts.
  • Attends all individual’s related trainings/meetings.
  • Attends regularly scheduled meetings.
  • Participates in requited in-service training and professional growth activities.
  • Provides counseling and assistance to individuals as needed.
  • Completes all other assigned tasks by Person Directed Supports, Inc.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University. Two years’ experience working directly with people with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities.
