We provide services across all life stages, for individuals, couples, and children and adolescents. Each year, we provide over 90,000 therapy sessions and educate over 700 graduate students to meet the emerging behavioral health needs of our communities. THE ROLE

The Director of Development & Fundraising provides leadership and management of the planning, and execution of fundraising and development for The Family Institute. Reporting to the Chief External Relations Officer, the Director of Development & Fundraising will work collaboratively to create and provide overall management of the development operating plan, budget, income goals, and database. The position works collaboratively across the team and organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a portfolio of individual prospects and donors, and cultivate private foundation support
  • Create processes that ensure donors and members receive a “personalized” donor experience, including soliciting and cultivating strategies that match identified donor interests and seeking to build connections
  • Oversee and launch a bi-annual direct mail campaign to support the fundraising goals
  • In partnership with the Chief External Relations Officer and the Director of Marketing and Communications, plan an effective external relations strategy to support and bolster financial support and awareness for the mission of The Family Institute
  • Design and administer an institutional prospect management system that builds the donor pipeline across donor audiences
  • Support Board Members with fundraising efforts
  • Provide donors with high-quality reporting on the impact of their gift
  • Work collaboratively with the CEO and the Chief External Relations Officer in their communication and interaction with major donors and institutional supporters
  • Provide oversight and direction for database and board relations manager
  • Responsible for accurate and timely monthly fundraising reports
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:

Knowledge and Skills:

Minimum Hiring Specifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree, advanced degree, or CFRE preferred
  • Minimum of 6 years experience working in Development and Fundraising
  • Experience in hospital or university development setting preferred

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to clearly and effectively compose written reports
  • Limited mobility due to constant attention to the computer screen
  • Work requires the ability to hear (perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels) and express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word
  • Work requires the ability to see adequately to perform work-related duties
  • Ability to comprehend complex ideas and complex diagnostic histories of clients
  • Ability to develop solutions to problems
  • Ability to work under stress and successfully handle multiple projects
