This Director of Community Relations will be working in our Carrollton, TX office and will be responsible for managing civic and community partnerships in our critical U.S. based regional hubs. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with business units and employees to further TR brand and inclusive culture.

About the Role

In this opportunity as Director of Community Relations, you will:

  • Provide community relations programs for employees and further the interest of Thomson Reuters to serve our customers and community
  • Be responsible for developing and implementing community relations strategies to meet Thomson Reuters business objectives.
  • Be responsible for the development and management of public /private partnerships and alliances with NGO’s and customers associations that serve our primary customers in Legal, Tax and Government in the Dallas market.
  • Manage the community relations strategy relative to business interest, department goals and adjust as necessary to meet the dynamic needs of the changing marketplace.
  • Develop opportunities to promote Thomson Reuters values, brand and commitment to employee engagement and volunteerism.
  • Manage site-based activities related to wellness, holiday gathering, seasonal events and other activities that enrich employee engagement
  • Develop and maintain relationship with key business organizations, government and non-profit leaders and neighborhood groups that foster Thomson Reuters, civic and community shared interests.
  • Serve as an active representative for Thomson Reuters at public and private business, community meetings and forums.
  • Manage the community relations budget and serve as the primary contact for sponsorships and community relations strategic partnerships in the Dallas market.
  • Proactively identify potential issues and resolutions to promote employee engagement, customer relations, civic engagement

About You

You’re a fit for the role of Director of Community Relations if your background includes:

  • Must have business wide knowledge and skills gained through wide-ranging experiences within the Community Relations or related field that require diverse practices or procedures.
  • Recognized as a Community Relations or related field expert within own area/geography and has developed depth or breadth of complex functional knowledge nationally and/or globally.
  • Knowledge of our diverse customer interests and has experience developing programs or initiatives that align to their business or civic interest.
  • 5 – 7+ years of experience leading national and global projects and programs initiatives that have positive social impact that align with TR business interest.

Technical / Professional Skills & Competencies

  • Must have knowledge of best practices in community relations (volunteerism and community development) or related field.
  • Must have knowledge of best practices in program assessment and evaluation
  • Superior oral and written communications skills with ability to build relationships as a trusted advisor with leaders/managers.
  • Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information.
  • Ability to build network of sources and thrive in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Computer proficiency in basic applications.
  • Ability to work in a team environment across business areas.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to remain focused, objective, effective and concentrated under pressure.
  • Innovative – ability to propose effective, engaging program concepts
  • Skilled at planning, project management, time management, communications.

Relationships: Internal / External

  • Must have experience managing volunteer programs both local and national.
  • Skilled at working with communications and creative services to deliver engaging, targeted messaging.
  • Ability to assess major local and global social responsibility initiatives and opportunities for alignment with strategic business and customer civic interest.
  • Must have experience managing complex programs with national, global experience ideal
