The Director, Administration and Operations will lead Trachtenberg School staff and provide centralized support for the administrative and operational activities and workflows within the School, working under the supervision of the Director of the Trachtenberg School. This person will directly supervise staff and allocate resources for their use. This person is expected to work collaboratively with staff to make operational and administrative support recommendations. This position will work with the School Director to strategize on administrative or operational challenges, potential and existing partnerships, and the pursuit of improvements.
The person in this role will also prepare, coordinate, and facilitate internal and external meetings, develop and recommend budgets, and will manage budgets and business activities to ensure compliance with established university guidelines. This position may also oversee written communications, provide oversight to high profile events and related activities, partner with HR representatives on human resource actions, and support staff engaged with space planning for the work area, to include interacting with building management and other internal staff on office space matters. This is a management position at the university that, in addition to leading a work unit, leads and supervises staff directly; makes hiring decisions; provides coaching, training and mentoring; manages performance and determines future staffing needs. This is typically the highest administrative management position within a school or division, and is typically a single incumbent position.
Additional Duties Include:
- Support the Director of the School in a strategic context, helping to organize and execute major events
- Facilitate internal and external relationships including the School’s Advisory Council
- Manage marketing and performance improvement functions; coordinate accreditation and reporting for the school
- Represent the School in the Director’s absence on non-curricular affairs
- Perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 8 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 6 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Graduate level management degree or management-related certification
- At least two years of experience supervising others
- Experience within higher education environments
- Experience managing budgets
- Excellent communication skills
