Position Description

Organization

ReVive Center has been preventing homelessness and restoring hope since its founding on the Near West Side in 1915. ReVive provides affordable housing, supportive services and a low-barrier Engagement Center designed to honor the dignity of all who experience homelessness. ReVive also offers Christmas Baskets to struggling families and plans to enhance its services to people who experience homelessness.

Summary

Reporting to and in partnership with the Director of Development, the Development Associate will assist in fundraising efforts and will run the Christmas Basket program.

Responsibilities

Fundraising

• Gift processing and data entry in ReVive’s Bloomerang database
• Grant Administration
• Assist the Director of Development in maintaining relationships, including preparing required reports, with existing foundation, corporate and parish donors
• Assist in identifying and applying for corporate and private foundation grants and sponsorships to fund the mission of ReVive; track proposals and prepare reports
• Events
• Assist the Director of Development with the detail management of ReVive’s spring golf event and fall fundraising event. For example, work with online auction company, collect logos from corporate sponsors, create signage and sponsorship packages, apply for corporate sponsorships, etc.

Christmas Basket Program

• Run logistical aspects of the program. Arrange for potential recipients to register, enter recipient information into database, match recipients with donors, arrange for pick-up of gifts
• Manage the online databases of recipients, organizations, and donors
• Recruit volunteers for approximately six summer registration days and approximately twelve winter distribution days; ensure there is staff present on each day to manage the volunteers
• Write email and letter communications to parishes, donors, and recipients that clearly articulate both mission and logistics; ensure timely communications
• Honor the 100-year legacy of the program

Other

• Ensure adherence to ReVive policies/procedures (E.g. personnel, financial, participant eligibility, Standards of Professional Conduct, Ethics, HIPAA etc.)
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Experience in planning, leading, and managing complex, logistical projects, including coordinating with peers to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking and reporting on progress to senior managers
• Takes initiative and actively seeks to deepen current donor relationships and to forge new ones
• Skilled in creating powerful, compelling written and oral communications for fundraising. Ability to convey complex ideas through brief, simple materials.
• Effective at working with others to reach common goals and objectives
• Skilled at establishing and cultivating strong relationships with peers, across different levels of the organization and externally
• Strong working knowledge of web-based databases.
• Ability to teach diverse communities about homelessness and the way the Xmas basket program fits into a commitment to honoring the dignity of vulnerable populations.
• Ability to be present for evening and weekend volunteer programs.
• Commitment to the mission of the ReVive Center.

Compensation

• $25-30/hour

Time

• Approximately 20 hours per week
• Six Saturdays in June and July for Christmas Basket registration
• Two weeks of daily work in December for Christmas Basket distribution
• Additional days in May and November as necessary to successfully execute two fundraising events

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
