Job Title: Design and Tooling Engineer
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Work Location: Eastlake, OH
Responsible for designing new products and making improvements to existing products. Will support the reduction of manufacturing cost while increasing productivity by utilizing various Mechanical Engineering principals in process control, tooling, fixture, and equipment design under the direction of Engineering Manager. Responsible for overseeing Eastlake tool room and Tool Makers as direct reports. Approval and prioritization of jobs, development, and maintenance of tooling PM schedules. Development and standardization of best practices for tooling. Assisting engineering group with best practice tooling design.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing, designing, and improving brass musical instruments.
- Implement concurrent engineering techniques to reduce manufacturing time and production costs.
- Work with appropriate department personnel to coordinate Engineering changes.
- Create and maintain component and tooling documentation and prints.
- Test and evaluate products you have designed and/or improved.
- Work with Product Managers to coordinate changes and/or new product lines.
- Schedule and assist tool room with jobs. Work with mills, lathes, grinders, EDM, CNC, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 4 year degree in Mechanical Engineering OR 10+ years experience as Tooling Engineer.
- Experience in solid model design using SolidWorks or other major software.
- Familiarity with CNC machining techniques and BobCAM software.
- Experience playing brass (trumpet/trombone/tuba/French horn) instruments a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills, written and oral.
- Experience working with metals required; any other alternative material a plus.
- 3-5 years of mechanical design experience desired.
- Must be able to lift up to 25lbs.
- Must have ability to travel (domestic and international) up to 25%
